Mia Goth's Edgy Presence at Frankenstein's Immersive Exhibition
SHOCKING EXCLUSIVE!
Mia Goth and Jacob Elordi, co-stars of Guillermo del Toro's latest cinematic masterpiece, Frankenstein, took center stage at London's Old Selfridges Hotel on Tuesday as an immersive exhibition celebrating the film opened its doors to the public. The edgy horror movie, set for a limited theatrical release on October 17 and Netflix debut on November 7, has been generating buzz around town, and these two talented actors were among the A-listers who attended the launch.
Mia Goth, the 31-year-old beauty, turned heads in an ultra-edgy black leather dress with white trim, posing like a pro as she posed for photos at the high-profile event. Her co-stars, including Oscar Isaac and Christoph Waltz, also made appearances, giving fans a sneak peek into the film's eerie world.
The exhibition, set to run on selected days until November 9, is an immersive experience that celebrates del Toro's visionary storytelling and the exceptional craftsmanship of his team. Visitors will get to explore a vast collection of props, artwork, costumes, and Tiffany & Co. jewelry featured in the film, as well as rare books curated by Peter Harrington to honor Mary Shelley's legacy.
But what really has everyone talking is the film itself. The trailer dropped in June revealed Jacob Elordi's transformation into the iconic Monster, with a chilling scene showing him being revived by Dr. Frankenstein's electrical experiment. Action-packed shots also showed the towering star hidden under a cloak while fighting off several men aboard a clipper ship.
Jacob's Shocking Transformation!
We got the scoop on how Jacob landed the plum part of the Monster. According to sources, he was approached by del Toro just nine weeks before cameras started rolling after Andrew Garfield dropped out due to scheduling issues. Jacob revealed that he had only three or four weeks to prepare for the role, but he was determined to make it happen.
"I was drawn to this role because it's a vessel that I could put every part of myself into," Jacob said in an exclusive interview with The Scholarly Note. "Everything from the moment I was born to being with you here today, that's all in it in many ways."
He confessed that he had decided to "go Yorkshire" with the accent for his portrayal, and even revealed how he learned bits and bobs of the dialect from co-star David Bradley, who plays a blind man in the film.
But what really sets this Frankenstein apart is its epic scope. Del Toro has been waiting to make this film since he was seven years old, inspired by James Whale's 1931 classic starring Boris Karloff and Kenneth Branagh's 1994 version starring Robert De Niro.
"I had to wait to get the scope to make it at a scale, so that you could reconstruct the whole world and I got that," del Toro said in an interview. "Now I am in post-partum depression."
The Real Horror: Will Netflix Finally Win a Best Picture Oscar?
With Frankenstein set for a limited theatrical release on October 17 and a Netflix debut on November 7, fans are eagerly anticipating what critics will say about the film. But insiders claim that Netflix is pinning some of its hopes and ambitions to finally win a Best Picture Oscar with this film.
Three-time Oscar-winning director del Toro has said that this was the film he had been waiting to make since he was seven years old. "It is a dream for me and the [1931] film was a religion," he confessed. "I was raised very Catholic and Boris Karloff on the screen was a saint."
A House of Dynamite, Jay Kelly, and Frankenstein: Can Netflix Finally Win it All?
But what really has everyone talking is the fact that Frankenstein is part of a new wave of Oscar hopefuls from Netflix. Alongside del Toro's epic horror film are two other contenders: Jay Kelly, starring George Clooney, and A House of Dynamite, directed by Katherine Bigelow.
Will Frankenstein be the one to finally bring home that elusive Best Picture Oscar for Netflix? We'll have to wait until November 7 to find out.
