Mel Owens in Financial Hot Water: Ex-Wife Demands $989K and Home Sale

The Golden Bachelor star Mel Owens has failed to mention his ongoing legal battle between him and his ex-wife, Fabiana, during the show's premiere

Mel Owens' Love Life is on Fire, but His Ex-Wife Fabiana is Still Waiting for Him to Pay Up!

The Golden Bachelor star Mel Owens has been making headlines with his new romance, but it seems like he's still got some unfinished business in the divorce department. We're talking about a whopping $978,887.67 that his ex-wife Fabiana Owens is still waiting for him to cough up.

Mel and Fabiana's four-year-long divorce battle finally came to an end in December 2024, but it seems like Mel hasn't learned his lesson yet. According to court documents obtained by thescholarlynote.com, Mel owes Fabiana nearly $1 million as part of their divorce settlement. And if he doesn't pay up soon, he might just lose his beloved home.

His ex, Fabiana Owens, has revealed that he has yet to pay the full amount of money that he was ordered to pay her when their divorce was finalized last year

The couple's five-bedroom, three-bathroom mansion in Aliso Viejo, California, is currently worth over $2 million, a far cry from the $840,000 they paid for it back in 2008. But despite its value, Mel seems to be dragging his feet when it comes to paying Fabiana her fair share.

In a recent court filing, Fabiana's lawyer alleged that Mel has "flagrantly violated" their divorce agreement by refusing to pay the $980,000 equalization payment he was ordered to make on or before February 28, 2025. And if he doesn't pay up soon, the interest will continue to rack up – at a whopping $257.53 per day!

But that's not all; Fabiana is also asking for Mel to put their marital home on the market and sell it immediately so she can get her hands on some of the proceeds. She's requesting that the net sale price be split between them, with her getting her fair share of course.

The travel group manager alleges Mel owes her $978,887.67, according to court filings obtained by the Daily Mail

Fabiana's lawyer claims that Mel has a "longstanding and deliberate pattern of disregard for court orders" and has failed to pay child and spousal support in the past. And to make matters worse, he's even been sanctioned by the court twice for refusing to comply with the discovery process!

So what's going on here? Is Mel just trying to pull a fast one on Fabiana, or is he really struggling financially? Sources close to the couple claim that Mel has been making $1,000 per month from his employer Namanny, Byrne & Owens, but it's unclear why that amount is so low.

Meanwhile, Mel has been busy finding love again on The Golden Bachelor, where he met 23 women and sent 10 of them packing. But despite all the drama, Fabiana seems unimpressed by her ex-husband's new romance. When asked for comment, she simply said, "Good luck with that. It's going to be bad."

Since Mel did not pay her the equalization payment by February, she filed a new motion with the court asking that he put their marital home in California (pictured) for sale

As for Mel's lawyer, they're staying tight-lipped about the whole situation, saying only that "this matter is still pending and we won't comment further." But one thing's for sure: this divorce drama is far from over!
