Meghan Markle's Wine Woes: Fans Criticize Price, Promos, and Pronouns

Meghan Markle 's first-ever wine drop was an immediate sell-out - but royal fans soon noted all wasn't quite as it seems. Pictured in her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan

The Royal Wines: Meghan Markle's Bubbly Launch Hits a Sour Note!

Get ready for some juicy gossip, folks! The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has just dropped her first-ever wine, and it's been met with a resounding "Meh!" from royal fans. But don't worry, we've got the tea on this boozy debacle.

Meghan's latest venture, As Ever, has been making waves since its inception. The lifestyle brand has brought us apricot spreads, cookie mixes, flower sprinkles, and herbal teas - but nothing could have prepared us for her debut rosé wine. And let me tell you, it's a real doozy!

Royal fans pointed out that, as customers were required to purchase at least three bottles, this meant for a minimum spend of $119 including shipping

The 2023 Napa Valley rosé, made in California (because, of course, it is), sold out in under an hour! But here's the thing: those three bottles will set you back $90, six bottles for $159, and 12 bottles for $300. That's a minimum spend of $119, folks! And don't even get me started on shipping - that'll be another $20, plus taxes.

But hey, at least the wine is good, right? Wrong! Royal fans have been quick to point out some glaring errors in Meghan's promotional campaign. For starters, there's that bizarre photo of the wine bottle in a bucket of ice, covered in flower sprinkles (because, why not?). And then there's the "one more sleep" before the release, which just feels like a desperate attempt to create some buzz.

And don't even get me started on Meghan's "tips and tricks" shown in her Netflix cookery show. Remember when she added flower sprinkles to cookies and a frittata? Yeah, that was a real game-changer. Now, you can buy those same sprinkles for $15 - because who doesn't want to elevate their meals with a dusting of petals?

Meghan was also mocked for her 'bizarre' promotional shoot, which featured an ice bucket covered in flower sprinkles

But wait, there's more! Fans have spotted some major errors in Meghan's newsletter. For starters, she wrote about "thoughtfully curating" the wine (curate usually refers to multiple items, not just one wine recipe). And then there's the URL issue - on her brand's Instagram account, she directs fans to shop via "Wine.AsEver.com", but on the bottle's label, it's listed as AsEverWine.com. Whoops!

Raging at the price, one person wrote: "Oh wait! Meghan Markle is forcing people to buy three bottles at a total of $110 minimum!" And pointing out the grammatical errors, others added: "Meghan Markle obviously has a poor grasp of English"; "I wonder what she thinks it means"; "How does one curate a wine"; and "Curate", pretentious waffle.

So, is Meghan's wine launch a success or a failure? Well, let's just say that the Duchess might want to rethink her strategy. After all, as Caitlin Jardine, Social Media Manager at Ellis Digital, pointed out: "Meghan will be entering a highly competitive and established market... This could alienate some of her fan base who feel as though she is going against her core wellness-centered brand image."

Others pointed out that Meghan had used the word 'curate' in her newsletter - despite only referring to one item

And don't even get me started on the Instagram post where Meghan picked fresh fruits from her garden. Eagle-eyed social media users quickly noticed that the fruit she was holding was a different color to those still on the tree! Whoops, looks like someone might be using some creative liberties in their marketing campaign!

Stay tuned for more juicy gossip and updates on Meghan's As Ever brand! And remember: when it comes to wine, you can't fool us with your fancy tricks, Meghan.
