Meghan and Harry's Next Move: Why the Royals Should Be Worried

Prince Harry is rumoured to be in discussions with streaming giant Netflix for a documentary marking 30 years since Princess Diana's death

THE SUSSEXES' NETFLIX FLOP: A ROYAL FAMILY WARNING SIGN

The Sussexes' Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, has hit rock bottom – and it's not just because of its cringeworthy attempts at cooking with edible flowers or Harry's embarrassing absence. The show's dismal ratings should send alarm bells ringing for the Royal Family, as it highlights a disturbing trend: unless they're trashing the Windsors, the Sussexes have no credibility, no access to Netflix's millions.

Meghan Markle, the self-proclaimed "domestic goddess," is clearly not living up to her own hype. Her attempts at cooking and lifestyle content are laughable, and it's a far cry from her earlier, more provocative days as a member of the Royal Family. Remember how she used to mock the Queen by showing off her deep curtsy skills in their Netflix series, Harry & Meghan? That show was a massive hit, with 81.6 million views in its first four days – but With Love, Meghan can't even crack the top ten.

A series about his mother is one thing is one thing that Harry does have left in his armoury

The couple's Netflix deal has been severely downsized, from a whopping $100 million to a mere "first refusal" option on any shows they might create. This is a stark reality check for Harry and Meghan, who thought they could just coast on their royal connections forever. But it seems that unless they're stirring up controversy and drama, they're just not worth the investment.

Harry's attempts at producing documentaries have been met with lukewarm reception, including his lackluster Invictus Games series. But there is one thing he has left in his arsenal: a Netflix series about his beloved mother, Diana. And this could be their ticket to making millions – and paying for Harry and Meghan's indulgent lifestyle for years to come.

Rumors are swirling that Harry is in serious talks with Netflix to produce a documentary about Diana, which would coincide with the 30th anniversary of her death in 2027. This should send shivers down the spines of King Charles, Prince William, Queen Camilla, and Princess Catherine – all of whom were viciously attacked by Harry in his memoir, Spare.

The Sussexes impact has greatly dwindled since the first episode of Harry & Meghan

Imagine the proposed script: Harry's idyllic summer days at Thorpe Park with his mother; his tearful, distraught reaction to being forced to walk behind her coffin as a 12-year-old boy. And, of course, no mention of William's pain – because he's been relegated to the role of Harry's arch-nemesis, the ultimate villain.

The documentary would undoubtedly be a nostalgic trip down memory lane for Harry, but it would also be a brazen attempt to rehash old wounds and stir up controversy. He would likely gloss over Diana's calculated use of the media throughout her life, including that infamous Panorama interview where she savagely attacked Charles and Camilla.

Meghan, as always, would be inserted into the narrative as Harry's savior – his guiding light who helped him escape the cruel, dysfunctional royals who drove him to contemplate suicide. But will anyone buy this revisionist history? Or will they see it for what it is: a desperate attempt by the Sussexes to cling to their fading relevance and Netflix millions?

The sad truth is that Harry is likely to milk his victimhood for all it's worth, squeezing out every last drop of sympathy to carry on making the big bucks. And the Royal Family should be quivering with apprehension based on this latest development.

As one royal insider told TheScholarlyNote.com: "Harry's been playing the victim card for far too long. It's time he takes responsibility for his own actions and stops using his mother's memory to line his pockets."

The question is: will the Royal Family allow themselves to be dragged into this messy, manufactured drama? Or will they take a stand against Harry's self-serving attempts to rehash old wounds and cash in on their misfortune?

Only time will tell – but one thing's for sure: this isn't over yet.
