McConaughey Unveils Shocking Detail: Dad's Heart Attack During Intimate Moment
MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY REVEALS SHOCKING FAMILY SECRET: DAD'S FINAL MOMENT WITH MOM BEFORE HE HAD A DEADLY HEART ATTACK
In a jaw-dropping revelation, Matthew McConaughey has opened up about the tragic death of his father, James, in 1992. The actor's memoir, Greenlights, already painted a picture of a tumultuous relationship between his parents, but it seems there's more to the story.
In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, Matthew shared a stunning detail about the day his dad passed away. According to him, his mom, Mary Kathleen 'Kay' McConaughey, insisted that her husband be taken out of their home in the buff by paramedics when they arrived at 7:30 am. Yes, you read that right – in his birthday suit.
The How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days star recalled the events leading up to his dad's death, saying, "They hauled him out on the gurney and they tried to cover him up, and my mom's in the driveway, and she pulled the sheet off him. It was 7:30 am." Matthew's mom reportedly said, "That's Big Jim, he's gonna go out how he went. Don't be trying to cover up how he went out. He's in his birthday suit and he's right there. Don't be covering that man up!"
Matthew's dad had a heart attack after making love with his mom at 6:30 am on that fateful morning. The actor revealed, "My understanding is that they made love that morning about 6:30 am and as soon as they finished having sex he had a heart attack." Matthew's mom was adamant that her husband be taken away in the state of undress, insisting it was how he went out.
This revelation adds to the already complicated picture of Matthew's family dynamics. In Greenlights, he described his parents' relationship as "tumultuous" and wrote about their multiple marriages and divorces. He even called his dad "the abominable snowman, the immovable force, a bear of a man, with the immune system of a Viking and the strength of a bull." Ouch!
Matthew's dad's death had a profound impact on him, marking the moment he came to terms with growing up. The actor revealed that he used to believe his dad was invincible – "except Mom." He said, "His moving on kind of gave me a kick in the caboose to have courage... There were things I was doing that he had taught me how to do, but I was kind of half-assing them, because I felt like, 'Well, the real dude's right behind me.'"
In an interview with Interview magazine earlier this year, Matthew opened up about his dad's passing and how it made him realize he needed to take responsibility for himself. "Dads are, like, they're above the law... His moving on kind of gave me a kick in the caboose to have courage," he said.
Now, Matthew is back in the spotlight with not one but two new projects. He recently appeared on Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop podcast, discussing his career and meeting his wife Camila Alves. Additionally, his new film, The Lost Bus, will hit AppleTV+ on October 3. And if that wasn't enough, Matthew has also just released a book of poems and prayers called Poems & Prayers, which features a "hilarious collection of personal poetry and prayers about navigating the rodeo of life and chasing down the original dream, belief."
The world is still reeling from this shocking revelation, but one thing's for sure – Matthew McConaughey has never been one to shy away from sharing his family secrets. We can't wait to see what's next from this talented actor!
