McConaughey's Nepo Baby Secret: Director Bypassed for Son’s Audition

Matthew McConaughey certainly didn't hide the fact that he pulled strings to get his eldest child - son Levi Alves McConaughey - cast in his upcoming film The Lost Bus

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY'S SECRET FAVORITISM EXPOSED: 'NEPO BABY' SON LEVI LANDS ROLES WITH DAD'S HELP

In a scandalous revelation that's left the entertainment industry buzzing, Matthew McConaughey has confessed to using his clout to land his son Levi Alves McConaughey a role in his upcoming film The Lost Bus. The 55-year-old Oscar winner made the admission at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) world premiere of the survival drama last Friday.

Sources close to the production reveal that Matthew's eldest child, 17-year-old Levi, begged his dad "four times" for a chance to audition for the role of Shaun, the son of his character Kevin McKay. McConaughey, known for his free-spirited nature, couldn't resist his son's pleading and decided to help him out.

Last Friday, the 55-year-old Oscar winner revealed at the TIFF world premiere of the 129-minute survival drama that the 17-year-old nepo baby asked him 'four times' if he could audition for the role of his bus driver character Kevin McKay's son Shaun

The Hollywood A-lister took Levi under his wing, even going so far as to film a scene with him on set. "I pulled out the camera, worked with him on a scene, and sent that [tape] to casting director Francine Maisler," Matthew revealed during the Q&A session at TIFF.

But it gets juicier! When Maisler informed McConaughey that Levi was indeed talented enough to warrant a callback, he asked her to remove his last name from the submission. Why, you ask? Apparently, Matthew wanted to ensure that his son's chances of landing the role weren't compromised by their familial connection.

Francine, being the professional she is, agreed to McConaughey's request and sent the footage to director Paul Greengrass. The 70-year-old filmmaker was reportedly impressed with Levi's performance and declared, "That's the guy, that's the son!" When Maisler revealed to him that Levi was, in fact, Matthew's real-life son, Greengrass exclaimed, "Even better!"

Matthew recalled during the Q&A: 'Pulled out the camera, worked with him on a scene, and sent that [tape] to [casting director] Francine Maisler. And I said — remember I had a note? — I said,

The Lost Bus, produced by Jamie Lee Curtis, boasts an impressive 100% critic approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (based on 12 reviews) and hits limited US theaters on September 19 before streaming on Apple TV+ on October 3. The film is based on Lizzie Johnson's book Paradise: One Town's Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire.

But this isn't the first time Matthew has used his influence to help out his son. Last year, Levi made his acting debut in a Lincoln car commercial, and McConaughey even supervised him on set for McG's upcoming teen drama Way of the Warrior Kid, which premieres December 25 on Apple TV+.

It seems like Matthew is more than willing to use his star power to launch his son's career. After all, Levi has already landed several high-profile gigs, including getting "cash for catering" on his dad's movie sets and even joining Instagram and TikTok at the ripe age of 15.

McConaughey asked Maisler: 'When you do that, will you do me one favor? Will you pull the last name off so it's just, there's no McConaughey on the end of that?'

The LA-born Zoomer (yes, that's a thing!) enjoys surfing, tennis, and making music in his free time. With over 444K followers on social media, it's clear that Levi is well on his way to becoming a Hollywood heartthrob – thanks in no small part to his dad's connections.

Matthew's other family members are also getting in on the action. He welcomed 15-year-old daughter Vida and 12-year-old son Livingston with wife Camila Alves, whom he met at the iconic Hollywood hotspot Hyde back in 2006. The couple tied the knot after a 13-year courtship.

When it comes to his upcoming projects, McConaughey is keeping busy as ever. He'll kick off his five-date Poems & Prayers Book Tour on September 16 at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY, with special guest Jon Bon Jovi moderating. The Golden Globe winner will also star in Andrew Patterson's crime thriller The Rivals of Amziah King and Nic Pizzolatto's untitled Netflix series about brothers.

But that's not all – Matthew is set to appear in a big-screen adaptation of the Wisdom Tree video game Exodus, as well as Apple TV+'s 10-episode comedy Brother from Another Mother alongside Woody Harrelson. With his son Levi already making waves in the industry, it seems like Matthew McConaughey's family empire is only just beginning to unfold.
