Mariah Carey: Elegance in the Spotlight Amidst Nick Cannon Drama

Mariah Carey was put in a tough spot when asked about ex-husband Nick Cannon this week

Mariah Carey Takes the High Road: Avoids Drama with Ex-Husband Nick Cannon

In a shocking turn of events, Mariah Carey was put on the spot when asked about her ex-husband Nick Cannon's recent revelation about their divorce. The 56-year-old songbird was promoting her new album "Here For It All" on CBS Mornings, but things took a dramatic turn when host Gayle King brought up Cannon's bombshell confession.

Cannon, 44, recently opened up about how his divorce from Carey triggered a wave of trauma that led him to father an astonishing 10 more children with five different women. The media personality claimed that he was careless and frivolous during this time, and that he didn't do the inner work necessary to cope with the pain of their split.

But when King asked Carey about her co-parenting relationship with Cannon, she skillfully sidestepped the question, saying "Hmm... I kind of feel like it's best if I don't talk about him because he can just be in his own world. No offense to him."

Carey's fans are going wild for her classy response, praising her for taking the high road and refusing to engage with Cannon's drama.

"I love how she dodged that question!" wrote one X user. "She knows what Nick is like now, so good on her for not playing into his game!"

Another fan echoed this sentiment, saying "Mariah showed a different level of class today because it's still clear that Nick Cannon is the kids' father."

But what really sparked the drama was when Cannon stopped by The Breakfast Club earlier this month to dish about his post-divorce life. He revealed that becoming a dad to so many kids stemmed from unresolved pain and a lack of self-reflection following the end of his marriage.

"I just didn't do the work," he confessed. "So then I looked up, 12 kids later, and I'm like, 'Wow, I could have [done] things differently.'"

When asked if his parenting decisions were tied to trauma, Cannon replied: "Yeah, I'm learning that now... It wasn't like I was acting out. It was more of being careless, being frivolous with my process because I could do it, because I had the money, because I had the access to whoever and however I wanted to move."

The actor also claimed that he wasn't "mature" enough to plan his life intentionally during this time.

"Now, in therapy," Cannon said, "I've taken time to reflect and work on myself. Being almost 45 now, I could sit back and like, yeah, if I would have thought the process through a little bit more and [taken] time to actually do the inner work, things might have been a little different in certain scenarios."

TheScholarlyNote.com reached out to Carey's team for comment, but they declined to speak on the matter.

It seems like Cannon is finally taking responsibility for his actions and acknowledging that he needs to do some growing up. But will this newfound introspection be enough to repair his relationships with his children and ex-wife? Only time will tell.

As one fan so aptly put it: "Nick Cannon's got a lot of kids, but I guess you could say he's also got a whole lot of growing up to do."
