Margot Robbie's Bold Ensemble Takes Midtown by Storm!
Margot Robbie Sizzles on Big Bold Beautiful Journey Press Tour, But Will Her Latest Film Be a Critical Disaster?
It's been a whirlwind few days for Margot Robbie as she promotes her latest film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, but it seems the Australian actress is more concerned with her fashion choices than the movie's dismal critic approval rating. The 35-year-old bombshell flashed a hint of her black bra beneath a dark grey blazer featuring a tapered bottom as she left The Greenwich Hotel in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood on Tuesday.
Robbie's stylist, Andrew Mukamal, really outdid himself this time around, pairing the actress with light grey denim-style trousers, black peep-toe clogs, and a matching purse that perfectly complemented her dark blonde middle-parted mane. Hairstylist Bryce Scarlett and make-up artist Pati Dubroff also made sure Robbie looked absolutely stunning, adding a pink pout and defined brows to complete the look.
But what's really got everyone talking is Robbie's on-screen chemistry with her leading man, Colin Farrell. The 49-year-old Irish actor is not only 14 years older than the Barbie producer-star, but he's also shown his more playful side in interviews. During an appearance on TODAY with Savannah Guthrie earlier this week, Farrell dug into what he thought were "smashed crisp" aka "chippy" sandwiches and let out a rather... colorful... expletive when he realized they were actually Tayto.
"I f*ing knew it!" Farrell exclaimed before attempting to play it cool. Robbie laughed off the incident, telling TODAY's Hoda Kotb that their film is "a nice family movie." We can't help but wonder if this on-screen chemistry will translate into real-life sparks between the two leads.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, directed by Kogonada and produced by Robbie's own production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, has been met with a mixed response from critics. With a dismal 56% critic approval rating (out of 36 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems the $60M-budget drama about magical portals to the past may be in for a rough ride at the box office.
But Robbie is not one to let a few bad reviews get her down. The actress has been making waves with her upcoming projects, including an adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights, where she'll play Catherine Earnshaw opposite Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. However, fans have been quick to point out the casting choices for this classic novel, with many taking issue with the white-washing of Heathcliff and Robbie's blonde bombshell portrayal of Catherine.
The controversy surrounding Wuthering Heights has been brewing for months, but it seems Robbie is unfazed by the backlash. After all, she's got her sights set on bigger things – like celebrating the first birthday of her son with husband Tom Ackerley later this month. The couple, who met on the set of Suite Française in 2013 and co-founded LuckyChap Entertainment together, will be marking a major milestone in their lives.
In an interview with ET earlier this year, Robbie gushed about motherhood, saying "It's like... you try to explain to someone who has kids, you don't need to because they get it, and if they don't, it's probably just really boring to hear. So, it's kind of like, 'It's the best,' you know?" We can't wait to see what's next for this talented actress – both on and off screen.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey hits US/UK theaters this Friday, October 13th. Don't forget to tune in to Late Night with Seth Meyers later this week, where Robbie will be joined by Colin Farrell and Eva Longoria for a fun-filled conversation that's sure to be anything but boring.
