Mandy Moore Shocks Fans: Family Hit by Vicious Hit-and-Run
SCANDAL ROCKS MANDY MOORE'S WORLD: ACTRESS AND FAMILY STRUCK BY HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER, FANS TURN ON HER FOR GO-FUND-ME CONTROVERSY
Mandy Moore's world has been turned upside down in recent weeks, and it's not just the devastating wildfires that ravaged her Altadena home that have left her reeling. The 41-year-old actress and her musician husband Taylor Goldsmith are still shaken after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, who fled the scene without even stopping to check on their well-being.
In a series of scathing Instagram posts, Mandy vented her frustration at the driver, calling out the cowardly individual for abandoning them in their hour of need. "The woman who rear-ended my family and then drove off? Hope your karma finds you [sic]," she wrote, her anger palpable.
But that's not all - Mandy's family has been through a turbulent year, to say the least. Their home was damaged so badly by the Los Angeles fires that it became uninhabitable, forcing them to seek shelter elsewhere. And in a move that left many fans scratching their heads, Mandy set up a GoFundMe page for her in-laws, who also lost their home to the blaze.
However, not everyone was sympathetic to Mandy's plight - some online trolls questioned why she was asking others to contribute to her family when her own net worth is rumored to be a whopping $14 million. "Griff is a touring musician and also lost his entire arsenal of drums/percussion he uses to make a living," Mandy noted, plugging the crowdfunding page.
But Mandy's defenders came out in full force, rallying around her and defending her decision to raise funds for her family. "People questioning whether we're helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money Google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic," she fired back at her critics.
Mandy also took aim at the county's bureaucracy, which she claims has been making it impossible for them to rebuild their home after the fires. "Thanks LA County for making it frustrating and impossible to rebuild after the fires as possible," she wrote on her Instagram Stories, adding that she was "mind-boggled" by the red tape and hoops they were being forced to jump through.
But what really sparked outrage among fans was when Mandy revealed that she and her family had been staying with Hilary Duff and her husband Matthew Koma after losing their home. While many saw it as a kind gesture, others were skeptical - and accused Mandy of being opportunistic by setting up the GoFundMe page.
Mandy's response? "Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything." Ouch! But it seems that not everyone was buying her explanation - with some fans calling out her hypocrisy in seeking help for others when she could have used her own wealth to rebuild their home.
The drama surrounding Mandy Moore just keeps getting juicier and juicier, folks. Will we see more controversy from this actress in the coming weeks? Only time will tell.
