Mandy Moore on Motherhood: Navigating Life with Three Kids Under Four
Mandy Moore Dishes on Motherhood Mayhem and the Terrifying Reality of Political Violence
In a candid conversation with People, Mandy Moore opens up about the chaos of motherhood as she navigates raising three tiny tornados under the age of four with her husband Taylor Goldsmith. The 41-year-old former pop star, who recently condemned political violence, is trading in her microphone for mom duties and embracing every messy moment.
"I know there are seasons of life, but this particular season and chapter is all hands on deck," Mandy confesses to People magazine in a new interview. With two toddlers and an infant in tow, the singer-songwriter admits it's "a lot" – but also the most rewarding experience she's ever had.
Mandy shares sons August (4) and Oscar (3, who just celebrated his birthday in October), along with 11-month-old daughter Louise, who will turn one later this month. The This Is Us alum describes the mayhem as "the greatest thing in the world," despite the exhaustion and chaos that comes with it.
"There's a lot of moving parts at all times, but it's the best, obviously," Mandy exclaims. When asked about the challenging parts of motherhood, she shrugs it off, saying, "You just lean in, surrender, submit to it. It's wild, but it's the best ride ever."
It seems her husband Taylor is equally invested in their parenting journey. In fact, the couple recently shared a heart-to-heart moment where they both agreed on the same sentiment: this stage of life might be overwhelming, but they wouldn't trade it for anything.
"My husband and I [recently] looked at each other like, 'This is a lot, but I wouldn't have it any other way,'" Mandy reveals. Taylor, a musician, proposed to Mandy in 2017, and the couple tied the knot one year later. Their first child arrived in February 2021, marking the beginning of this whirlwind adventure.
As for their youngest, Louise, Mandy gushes about her baby's milestones: "Lou is almost one, and she's crawling everywhere and starting to walk – well, she thinks she can walk. She thinks she can just take off and doesn't need to hold onto us or anything!"
But it's not all sunshine and rainbows for the actress. Just last week, Mandy took to her Instagram platform to speak out against political violence after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was tragically shot dead. In a powerful statement, Mandy condemned the senseless act of violence, writing on TheScholarlyNote.com: "There is no room for political violence in this discourse. Ever."
However, in a follow-up post on Sunday, Mandy clarified her stance, stating that she does not support Charlie Kirk's views or actions. She emphasized the importance of empathy and understanding, even in the face of disagreement.
"Just a reminder that showing empathy for someone who was murdered (even if they would never extend the same courtesy), is not an endorsement of who they were," Mandy explained via Instagram Stories. "If you've followed me, you'd understand that I abhor everything that came out of his mouth but we are living in terrifying times and anyone being murdered for their beliefs and exercising their right to speak out should chill all of us."
