In a sneak peek video posted by Kidman on Instagram (because, of course, she had to give her fans a glimpse into the magic), we see the two sisters, Gillian (Kidman) and Sally (Bullock), embracing each other in a spooky cemetery setup. It's been nearly three decades since they first charmed us with their spellbinding adventures, and we can't wait to see what's in store for these witchy siblings!
But before we dive into the new film, let's take a trip down memory lane. Remember the original Practical Magic, based on Alice Hoffman's novel of the same name? The movie followed two sisters who harness their magical powers to fight off a curse that kills the men they fall in love with. Kidman and Bullock brought the Owens family to life, and we were hooked!
Fast-forward to today, and the Practical Magic 2 crew has been working tirelessly to bring this new chapter to life. The film is expected to hit theaters on September 18, 2026 (mark your calendars, folks!). But what can we expect from this long-awaited sequel?

As for Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld), who played Kylie Owens, Sally's daughter in the original film? Unfortunately, she won't be joining the new cast. In an Instagram post, Wood explained that she wasn't asked to reprise her role and had offered to appear in even a single scene or line. "I am sorry to disappoint the fans," she wrote. "It was not in my control or my choice."
So, what's the plan for Practical Magic 2? The film is expected to be based on a later installment in Alice Hoffman's book series. With its star-studded cast and magical premise, we can't wait to see what kind of spellbinding adventures these witchy sisters will get up to next!
