Madonna's Hamilton Meltdown: Broadway Star Anthony Ramos Exposes iPad Incident!
SHOCKING CELEBRITY BEHAVIOR: MADONNA'S TABLET-TYPING TALES OF WOE
The Queen of Pop, Madonna, has been skewered by none other than Broadway sensation Anthony Ramos for her allegedly appalling behavior during a performance of the hit musical Hamilton. According to Anthony, the Material Girl was spotted sitting in the audience with her tablet clutched tightly in front of her face, completely ignoring the stage.
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET... OR IN THIS CASE, ON BROADWAY
This isn't the first time Madonna's been accused of being a tone-deaf theatergoer. Back in 2015, Lin-Manuel Miranda, the mastermind behind Hamilton, took to social media to vent about a certain celebrity who was texting throughout Act II. Although he never mentioned her name, rumors quickly circulated that it was none other than Madge herself.
THE TRUTH COMES OUT... OR DOES IT?
Madonna's publicist vehemently denied the claims, insisting that she was invited backstage multiple times and even made a generous donation to the show. But not everyone is buying into the Queen of Pop's spin doctors' narrative. Jonathan Groff, who played King George III in the original cast, came forward to corroborate Anthony's account.
YOU COULDN'T MISS IT... THE BLACK VOID OF HER FACE
Groff revealed that Madonna's face was "perfectly lit" by the light of her iPhone for a good chunk of the show. He recalled: "You couldn't miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone through three-quarters of the show."
A HISTORY OF CELLPHONE CHASERS
This isn't Madonna's first rodeo when it comes to being accused of cell phone addiction during a performance. In 2013, she was banned from the Alamo Drafthouse movie theater chain after allegedly texting throughout a screening of 12 Years a Slave.
WHEN PHONE-GATE BECAME ENSLAVEMENT
According to Page Six, Madonna retorted to an audience member who asked her to put away her phone: "It's for business...enslaver!" Yeah, that didn't exactly endear her to the crowd.
A STAR IS BORN (OR NOT)
Despite her questionable theater etiquette, Madonna has had her share of stage triumphs. She made her Broadway debut in David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow back in 1988 and went on to play Eva Peron in the 1996 movie adaptation of Evita.
PATTI LUPONE WEIGHS IN... AND IT'S NOT PRETTY
But not everyone is a fan of Madonna's acting chops. Patti LuPone, who won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Eva Peron in the original Broadway cast of Evita, has been quoted as saying: "Madonna is a movie killer. She's dead behind the eyes. She cannot act her way out of a paper bag. She should not be in film or onstage." Ouch!
WATCH WHAT HAPPENS... LIVE!
Anthony Ramos recently spilled the tea about Madonna's alleged behavior on Watch What Happens Live!, saying: "Damn, shorty, if you're not enjoying it that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't gotta stay here."
So, will we ever see a cameo from the Queen of Pop in another Broadway production? Only time (and her phone) will tell.
