M3GAN 2.0: The Movie That's Shaking Up Critics Worldwide

It was one of the most anticipated and heavily marketed movies of the year, but M3GAN 2.0 is now shaping up to be 2025's biggest flop

M3GAN 2.0: The AI Horror Show That's Got Everyone Talking - for All the Wrong Reasons!

In a shocking turn of events, M3GAN 2.0 has emerged as the biggest flop of the year, leaving fans and critics alike scratching their heads. Despite a massive marketing campaign that roped in A-list celebrities like Megan Thee Stallion, Trisha Paytas, and Britney Spears, this sequel has been savaged by most reviewers and viewers.

One scathing review likened M3GAN 2.0 to a "horrendous mishmash of ideas and influence," while another called it "0.0 percent watchable." Mashable summed up the movie as "occasionally outrageous, but mostly derivative, bewildering, and bland."

In addition to dismal reviews, M3GAN 2.0 looks set to disappoint at the box office too

The Daily Beast chimed in with their own scathing review: "You'll be shocked by how bad M3GAN 2.0 is... a leaden and aimless bit of cinematic malware." Variety was equally unimpressed, stating that the sequel "simply isn't as much" as the first film.

In what can only be described as a desperate attempt to revive interest in the franchise, Blumhouse has launched a Pride-themed marketing campaign for M3GAN 2.0 - but insiders claim this move may have backfired, alienating fans who were expecting something more substantial from the PG-13 rated movie.

Meanwhile, IndieWire blasted the sequel's attempts at campy humor and ridiculous action sequences: "M3GAN was campy enough to become an accidental gay icon... Now, Blumhouse is sending her sequel to theaters on a confused wave of Pride-themed marketing that seems likely to undercut the film's PG-13 rating."

But what about the movie's box office prospects? Unfortunately, early predictions suggest M3GAN 2.0 will open with a paltry $15 million to $20 million, a far cry from the original's impressive $31 million opening haul.

"I've held off saying this for a while, but the first day of sales confirmed what I feared," wrote Empire City Box Office. "I think #M3GAN 2.0 is in some trouble... Horror fans seem upset it's not a horror and I fear others think it's too goofy. Summer is packed. Who is the core audience for this now?"

However, all hope may not be lost just yet. The Wrap, Slant, and Empire gave M3GAN 2.0 glowing reviews, praising its absurd humor and over-the-top action sequences.

On social media, a loyal fan base has emerged, with some enthusiasts calling the movie "absurd, over-the-top and just plain fun." Another fan gushed: "M3GAN 2.0 WAS FIRE! The action sequences, the humor, the silliness of it all blends together into an endlessly fun experience!"

For those who have been following the franchise, this news might come as a shock. After all, the first M3GAN was a surprise box office hit in 2022, raking in over $226 million from a paltry $12 million budget.

The original also boasted an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 93 percent, making it a critical and commercial success. But with this sequel's lackluster reception, the future of the franchise looks uncertain - unless, of course, an official spin-off, SOULM8TE, becomes a surprise hit next year.

Starring Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Amie Donald, and Jenna Davis, M3GAN 2.0 pits killer AI robot doll M3GAN against a military robot called AMELIA in a desperate bid to stop an AI takeover of the world.

Will this disaster be the final nail in the coffin for M3GAN, or will SOULM8TE breathe new life into the franchise? Only time (and the box office) will tell.
