HOLLYWOOD HEISTS: Lionel Richie's Home Burglarized While He Was Inside, The Latest Victim of a Wave Sweeping Los Angeles

The glamour of Hollywood has taken a dark turn as burglaries continue to plague A-listers in the city of angels. The latest victim is none other than music legend Lionel Richie, who had the terrifying experience of being burglarized while he was actually home at his Beverly Hills estate.

According to sources, police received a call about a break-in at Richie's property shortly after midnight, but fortunately, his state-of-the-art security system proved to be a game-changer. The alarm went off, scaring off the intruder before they could get their hands on any of Richie's valuable possessions. It's unclear what might have been stolen or damaged during the attempted heist.

Richie joins a growing list of A-listers who have had their homes in LA broken into, including Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Anthony Anderson, Teddi Mellencamp and more; Pitt pictured in June in London

The Beverly Hills Police Department has confirmed that a suspect was apprehended in connection with the break-in, but their investigation is still ongoing. They're poring over security footage from the property to get to the bottom of things and identify any other potential accomplices.

This latest development comes on the heels of another high-profile burglary at actor Brad Pitt's Los Feliz home back in June. Pitt was out of town promoting his racing drama F1 when thieves struck, making off with who-knows-what. But police have made some major breakthroughs in that case too - three suspects were arrested after being linked to a string of burglaries.

It seems like the perpetrators weren't specifically targeting famous people, but rather exploiting the fact that many A-listers are often away from their homes for extended periods. And with security systems not always foolproof, it's no wonder these opportunistic thieves have been able to get away with so much.

Teddi Mellencamp, a former Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star, had her own close call just last month when an attempted burglary was foiled by her home security system - installed by her estranged husband's company, no less. She shared some chilling footage of the would-be thieves trying to sneak in before being scared off.

And Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were another couple targeted by burglars back in February. The intruder smashed a window to get in, but was chased away by one of their employees on the property at the time.

As for Richie's experience, it's clear that even with top-notch security, there are no guarantees when it comes to preventing these kinds of crimes. It's a sobering reminder to all the stars living in LA: you can never be too careful or too prepared.

Thescholarlynote.com reached out to Richie's representative for comment but has yet to receive a response.

As for the suspect apprehended by police, his name is Michael John Bond - and while charges haven't been filed yet, it seems like he might have some 'splainin' to do.
