Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell Shine at Wimbledon: A Stylish Break from Parenting!
Lily Collins and Husband Charlie McDowell Serve Up Tennis Chic Amidst New Parenthood
It's been a whirlwind year for Emily In Paris star Lily Collins, who has traded in her script pages for diaper duty after welcoming a baby girl via surrogate earlier this year. The actress, 36, and her director husband Charlie McDowell were spotted enjoying a rare break from parenting duties at the Wimbledon Championships on Sunday, where they rubbed shoulders with A-listers including Andrew Garfield and Poppy Delevingne.
Collins' style game was strong as she rocked a stylish striped sundress with an intricate embroidered bodice, paired with gold flats that added a touch of sophistication to her overall look. The couple posed for snaps together at the Emirates suite, giving fans a glimpse into their glamorous lives outside of parenthood.
But this isn't the first time Collins has been in the spotlight since becoming a mom. In January, she and McDowell announced the arrival of their baby girl, Tove Jane McDowell, via social media. The actress shared an adorable photo of their newborn resting in a tiny bed, with a heartwarming caption that expressed her gratitude to their surrogate.
"Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell," Collins wrote on Instagram. "Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again..."
But not everyone was as enthusiastic about the couple's decision to use a surrogate. Some critics took to social media to express their disapproval, prompting McDowell to fire back with a scathing response.
"In regards to the unkind messages about surrogacy and our path to having a baby – it's OK to not be an expert on surrogacy," he wrote on his Instagram story. "It's OK to not know why someone might need a surrogate to have a child. It's OK to not know the motivations of a surrogate regardless of what you assume."
McDowell's response was met with widespread approval from fans, who praised him for standing up against criticism and speaking out about the importance of surrogacy. And it seems he's still got his sense of humor intact, as he joked that their newborn had just pooped and needed a diaper change – because priorities, right?
Collins' journey to motherhood has been a long and winding one. In 2017, she opened up about her struggles with an eating disorder in an interview with Us Weekly, revealing that it was her desire to start a family that finally gave her the motivation to seek help.
"My reason to finally start talking about [my eating disorder] was the moment I realized I wanted a family," Collins explained. "I wanted kids. I didn't want this to be something I bring into that."
It's clear that motherhood has been a game-changer for Collins, and we can't wait to see what's next for this talented actress and her growing family.
Meanwhile, on the tennis court, things were heating up with Sonay Kartal's fine Wimbledon run coming to an end in a fourth-round loss to Russian veteran Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. But there was still plenty of drama to go around, including Cameron Norrie's thrilling five-set victory over Nicolas Jarry – talk about a match for the ages!
As the tennis action continues at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, one thing is certain: Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell are ready to take on whatever comes next, whether it's serving up style or changing diapers.
