Lights Up: Why Celebs Are Rekindling Their Love for Cigarettes

Dua Lipa has been seen smoking cigarettes despite health warnings

The Great Smoke-In: Celebrities Reveal Their Secret Habit

In a shocking turn of events, Hollywood's elite are ditching their vape pens and going back to what they know best - traditional cigarettes. It seems that the glamour of nicotine addiction has made a comeback, with A-listers like Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, and Gracie Abrams proudly puffing away on stage and in public.

This sudden return to smoking has left many questioning whether these stars have lost sight of their influence over millions of young fans worldwide. After all, we've been conditioned to believe that vaping is the safer alternative - or at least, that's what we were told by our favorite celebrities just a few years ago.

Stars including Paul Mescal (pictured), Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams, Dua Lipa and Beyonce have all been spotted smoking, as vapes and other quitting aids dwindle in popularity - having been deemed designed for middle-aged people or teens

But it seems that the allure of traditional cigarettes has proven too great for even the most health-conscious stars. Gracie Abrams, 25, was spotted with a cigarette at Glastonbury last weekend, prompting fans to call her out on social media for seemingly reneging on her earlier stance against smoking. "At least I'll never turn to cigarettes," she sang in her hit song Camden - it seems that promise has now been broken.

Abrams' boyfriend Paul Mescal is also a fan of puffing away, despite his buff physique and strict fitness regime. In an interview last year, he revealed that he refused to give up smoking while bulking up for Gladiator 2, saying "I did everything he asked but I like to drink, and I like to smoke, so I drew a line in the sand where those were concerned."

Meanwhile, Dua Lipa has been spotted with cigarettes on multiple occasions since announcing her decision to quit smoking. In December 2021, she claimed to have kicked the habit due to laryngitis and for her 'Future Nostalgia' tour - but it seems that old habits die hard.

Paul is known to rub shoulders with fellow A-list puffers, as he was recently spotted enjoying a cigarette with Phoebe Waller-Bridge (pictured) and Natalie Portman

Beyoncé, the queen of pop herself, has also jumped onto the cigarette bandwagon. During a recent performance at her Cowboy Carter tour stop in Paris, she pulled out a prop cigarette mid-show and pretended to puff on it. This is just the latest in a series of 'smoking hot' moments for the superstar, who loves to theatrically light pianos on fire during her shows.

But what's driving this sudden return to traditional cigarettes? Is it a case of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em," or are these stars simply trying to stay relevant in an ever-changing world?

Dr. James Wilson, one of the world's leading lung oncologists, believes that vaping has become associated with image rather than health. "We have traditional smokers attempting to stop using cigarettes, and teenagers attracted to the novelty of e-cigarettes," he explained. "Vaping has become a status symbol, and that's exactly what's driving this new trend."

Gracie Abrams, who is the daughter of Star Wars titan JJ Abrams, came under fire last weekend for being spotted with a cigarette at Glastonbury (pictured with boyfriend Paul Mescal)

As Dr. Wilson points out, the risks associated with vaping are very real - but they're often overshadowed by its perceived coolness factor. "Research shows us that early exposure to smoking imagery does increase the likelihood of smoking initiation," he warned.

So what does this mean for our favorite celebrities and their young fans? It's clear that these stars have a responsibility to promote healthy habits, not indulge in ones that are proven to be hazardous to their health.

It's time to call out these A-listers on their hypocrisy and remind them of the risks associated with nicotine addiction. As Dr. Wilson so aptly put it: "The biological impacts of smoking, particularly on adolescent lungs, can hinder growth and development and also long-term respiratory issues, plus a potential addiction to nicotine."

Gracie's boyfriend Paul meanwhile is also a fan of puffing on a nicotine stick

The great smoke-in has officially begun - but will these stars be able to extinguish their habit before it's too late?

Kirsten Dunst's Smoking Habit Exposed

It's been reported that Kirsten Dunst and her husband Jesse Plemons have kicked their smoking habit for the sake of their children. However, recent snaps suggest that they may be struggling to stay on track.

Dua Lipa publicly stated that she quit smoking, yet there were late instances in which she was seen with cigarettes after this announcement

As one source put it: "They've both been trying to quit, but it's hard when you're used to having a cigarette in your hand all day." It seems that old habits die hard - and Kirsten Dunst is no exception.

Last year, Doja Cat was seen puffing on a cigarette - despite extensive discussion of her plans to quit both vaping and traditional smoking

Beyonce surprised her fans when she started smoking a cigarette during her Cowboy Carter concert tour stop in Paris, France over the weekend
