Lena Dunham's Early Relationship Oops: The Question That Almost Cost Her a TV Show!
Lena Dunham Spills the Tea: The Daring Question She Asked Husband Luis Felber on Their First Date
In a juicy revelation, Girls creator Lena Dunham has spilled the tea on her whirlwind romance with husband Luis Felber. Speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival, the 39-year-old actress and writer opened up about the early days of their relationship, including the scandalous question she asked him just four weeks into their dating.
Luis, also 39, is a musician who met Lena on a blind date set up by friends in January 2021. The couple hit it off immediately and went on to tie the knot just nine months later in September of that year. Now, they're co-creating and co-producing a new Netflix series, Too Much, which drops on July 10.
So, what was the daring question Lena asked Luis on their first date? Well, according to her, she asked him if he'd ever thought about working on a TV show - and he had no idea what was coming! "He always jokes that I asked him to work on a TV show inappropriately too soon in the relationship," she revealed. "Like sooner than I could have found out he had another family and had been keeping it quiet the whole time."
But why did Lena want Luis to join her on this creative venture? She confessed that she was drawn to his humor and thought he'd be a great collaborator. "He was so funny, and his notes on things were so good," she gushed. "And I thought, you have a skill that has not yet been tapped into."
The couple's new series, Too Much, follows the story of Jessica (played by Megan Stalter), a New Yorker who starts a new life in London after a messy breakup. There, she finds an impossible-to-ignore connection with Felix (played by Will Sharpe). The show boasts an impressive cast list, including Emily Ratajkowski, Richard E. Grant, Adwoa Aboah, Rita Wilson, Stephen Fry, Andrew Scott, Andrew Rannells, and Reha Perlman.
When asked about the star power that came together for the project, Lena was left pinching herself. "I'm still shocked that all these schedules worked, and all these people came together because everyone was in this show was who I wrote the role for," she exclaimed. "That's a rare experience."
Lena also gave a glowing review of Rita Ora's performance in the show's season finale, revealing that she brought the house down with her acting chops. "Rita Ora is a really good actor, and I want her to get more respect on her acting name," she said. "I want Rita Ora to get her flowers."
Get Ready for Too Much: The new Netflix series co-created by Lena Dunham and Luis Felber drops on July 10. Don't miss it!
