LeAnn Rimes Opens Up About Her Battle with Health: Mid-Performance Dental Drama!
LEANN RIMES OPENS UP ABOUT SECRET HEALTH STRUGGLES AND HOW SHE FINALLY FOUND THE COURAGE TO BE HERSELF
In a candid and heart-wrenching interview with Us Weekly, country-pop sensation LeAnn Rimes has revealed her struggles with psoriasis, perimenopause, and even having teeth fall out mid-performance. The 43-year-old songstress, who recently joined the cast of 9-1-1: Nashville, has been open about her health battles in recent years, but never to this extent.
Rimes, who's known for her powerful voice and captivating stage presence, revealed that she suffered from psoriasis - a chronic disease where skin cells build up quickly, causing red or discolored, scaly, and itchy patches on the skin. The singer confessed that she had been hiding her condition for years, even from her fans.
"I was so uncomfortable in my body for a long time," Rimes admitted to Us Weekly. "It's something that you have to think about all the time, which can be emotionally exhausting."
The star also opened up about dealing with perimenopause symptoms, which began in her late 30s. Rimes explained that there's often a sense of grief that comes with this life-changing experience.
"Perimenopause is not just about not making eggs anymore," she said. "It's such a deepening of the soul and allowing pieces of us that no longer serve us to fall away."
Rimes, who's married to actor Eddie Cibrian, revealed that she had been experiencing anxiety and waking up at 3 am for two years before seeking help. She also talked about her experience with abnormal pap smears and the subsequent LEEP procedure.
"I've had abnormal paps since I was 17," Rimes shared. "My doctors have been keeping an eye on any cellular changes that could be taking place."
But it wasn't just health issues that Rimes faced; she also experienced a shocking dental crisis during a performance at the Skagit Valley Casino & Resort in June. Her dental bridge fell out mid-song, forcing her to improvise and finish the show with teeth firmly in place.
"I had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening or else I would have had to walk off stage," Rimes joked.
Despite facing numerous health setbacks, Rimes has been focusing on her physical health and preparing her body for the changes it's going through. The singer shared that she feels "great" and is using this newfound energy to step back into her acting roots with 9-1-1: Nashville.
"I get to let out a side of myself that doesn't ever come out in real life," Rimes explained. "It was definitely a stretch for me, but it's been very healing."
The new installment of the 9-1-1 franchise is set to air on ABC this week, and fans can expect to see Rimes bring her signature charm to her role as Dixie Bennings.
For those who may be wondering how LeAnn Rimes has managed to maintain such a strong sense of self amidst all these health challenges, the answer lies in embracing vulnerability and honesty. By speaking out about her struggles, she's given herself - and others - permission to love themselves unconditionally.
"It's been amazing for me," Rimes gushed. "Every time I talk about it, I set myself — and someone else — free."
So what's next for LeAnn Rimes? Fans can expect more music, more acting, and maybe even a few more health updates from the talented singer-songwriter.
