Kylie Jenner's 'King AutoTune' Debut Sparks Viral Backlash!
Kylie Jenner's Music Debut Falls Flat: "King Kylie" Strikes Out with Terrible Singing Voice
In a shocking move, 28-year-old socialite and producer-star Kylie Jenner has officially launched her musical debut as a featured artist on Terror Jr's (Lisa Vitale and David Singer-Vine) song Fourth Strike. But it seems like the Kardashian-Jenner clan's attempt at music stardom has ended in disaster.
The so-called "singing sensation" resurrected her baddie alter ego King Kylie, launching her first Spotify and Apple accounts under the 2014 retro moniker. However, when listeners tuned in to hear Kylie's musical talents, they were met with cringe-worthy vocals that left many unimpressed.
In a bizarre attempt at showcasing her singing voice, Jenner sang on the bridge of Fourth Strike, punctuated by whispering "King Kylie." The song's lyrics are eerily reminiscent of a try-hard pop star attempting to be edgy and cool. But instead, it comes across as forced and awkward.
One strike, two strike, let me get the mood right...
I just wanna tell you, "I'm sorry" / Touch me, baby, tell me I'm your baby / Write your name all over my body / Cross the line, I might do it again (Oh) / Do it on purpose just to see how it ends.
The reactions from fans and critics were swift and merciless. X user @stargirlhoursx2 tweeted: "How embarrassing King AutoTune." Another user @_Cloaked scoffed: "Jesus it's awful." Even pop star Dua Lipa couldn't hide her disinterest, with a fan posting a gif of the singer looking unimpressed.
The harsh criticism didn't deter Jenner from gloating about her musical debut on social media. She took to Instagram to reveal that she had been secretly featured on Terror Jr's song 3 Strikes in 2016 – without anyone knowing it was her singing voice! The drama queen claimed: "There was a little rumor 10 years ago that I was the one actually singing on 3 Strikes!" And now, with Fourth Strike, she's trying to cash in on the fame.
But fans aren't buying it. X user @josebastiant2 wrote: "She saw Addison Rae getting the main pop girl status and had to run over to the nearest studio ASAP!"
The song itself is a sequel to Terror Jr's 2016 debut song 3 Strikes, which was even featured in Kylie's lip gloss campaign. But it seems like Jenner has finally revealed her true talents – or lack thereof.
In a bizarre attempt to salvage her reputation, Jenner included a cute clip of her seven-year-old daughter Stormi Webster and three-year-old son Aire Webster listening and singing along to Fourth Strike while in the back of her SUV. It's unclear if they were laughing at their mom's singing voice or genuinely enjoying it.
The drama queen also took the opportunity to thank several people for supporting her, including songwriter JBACH, Capitol Records A&R VP Carter Gregory, music engineer/producer Bart Schoudel, and her make-up artist Ariel Tejada 'for loving me.'
But what about her ex-boyfriend Travis Scott? The disgraced AstroWorld founder would arguably not have a rap career without AutoTune – the same technology used to mask Jenner's cringe-worthy vocals.
And it seems like Kylie is branching out into acting, too. She will star in Aidan Zamiri's upcoming A24 movie The Moment alongside AutoTune pop star Charli xcx. But let's be real – if her singing voice is this bad, what hope does she have as an actress?
The Kardashian-Jenner clan is no stranger to drama and controversy, but it seems like Kylie's music debut has hit rock bottom. As one fan so aptly put it: "She can keep it."
