Keanu Reeves' 'Stiff' Broadway Debut Sparks Fan Concerns

KEANU REEVES' BROADWAY BLUNDER: HAS THE MATRIX STAR'S CAREER GONE TO POT?

In a shocking turn of events, Keanu Reeves, 61, has sparked concern among fans with his disheveled appearance as he arrived at the Hudson Theatre in Midtown Manhattan ahead of his opening night performance of Waiting for Godot on Sunday. The usually dashing actor was seen clad in a crumpled suit and battered shoes, leaving many to wonder if he's still got what it takes to shine on stage.

Reeves' longtime partner, Alexandra Grant, 52, accompanied him to the theater, but all eyes were on the star's gaunt frame. Fans took to social media, expressing their worries about his health, with one user commenting, "He looks so skinny. It is worrisome. Since the last years, he gets scaringly [sic] thin... I hope he's not ill." Another fan chimed in, "Keanu I love you, but you need a new look! Get a fresh suit, shoes, and haircut – it's time to shine!"

The usually stoic actor has been making headlines for his rumored wedding to Grant. However, Reeves' publicist shut down the rumors just last Monday, telling E! News, "It is not true. They are not married." But fans can't help but wonder if something's amiss in the relationship.

Reeves' performance as Estragon in Waiting for Godot didn't exactly set the critics ablaze either. Johnny Oleksinski of The New York Post gave him a scathing two-star review, writing, "He doesn’t imbue any of Gogo’s lines with meaning — only speed and breathiness... He relies on a vacant stare that's money when he's playing an assassin on the big screen. Not so much in live theater." Ouch!

However, not all was doom and gloom for Reeves. Adrian Horton of The Guardian gave the production three stars, praising Reeves' chemistry with his Bill & Ted co-star Alex Winter, 60. "Luckily, there’s Bill & Ted to save the day... Their comedic chemistry still unmatched and irreproducible," Horton raved.

The 61-year-old Matrix alum officially made his Broadway debut as the hapless Estragon in director Jamie Lloyd's revival of the 1952 Samuel Beckett surrealist tragicomedy, which runs through January 4, 2026 (pictured September 13)

But despite the mixed reviews, it's clear that fans are more concerned about Reeves' well-being than his on-stage performance. One fan summed it up perfectly: "Keanu looks unhappy and skinny, and people are worried." Has the usually dashing actor lost his sparkle? Only time will tell.

KEANU'S LOVE LIFE: A HISTORY OF ROMANCES AND RUMORS

One fan wrote: 'He looks so skinny. It is worrisome. Since the last years, he gets scaringly [sic] thin, hope, he is not ill. He used to look so stunning during John Wick . What happened?'

Reeves has been linked to several high-profile women over the years, including Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron and screenwriter Sofia Coppola. But his romance with Grant has been a subject of fascination for fans and tabloids alike.

The couple met at a dinner party in 2009, and Grant even contributed poetry to two of Reeves' books: Ode to Happiness in 2011 and Shadows in 2016. However, their relationship has been shrouded in mystery, with many speculating about their status.

In an effort to put rumors to rest, Grant posted a PDA snap on social media last month, captioning it, "This is a real photo... simply a kiss! I'm sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn't get married." Ah, the classic 'it's-not-a-wedding-just-a-kiss' defense.

Whatever their relationship status may be, one thing's certain: Keanu Reeves is a man of mystery, and his fans will continue to speculate about his love life and career until he decides to spill the beans.

Others praised the handsome star for his Broadway debut

Following rumors they secretly wed, the grantLOVE project founder posted a PDA snap of the couple captioned: 'We didn't get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it's still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here's a bit of real happiness!'

And last Monday, Reeves' publicist told E! News: 'It is not true. They are not married'
