Kate McKinnon Sheds Light on 'Geographic Tongue': 'It's Gross!'
KATE McKINNON SPILLS THE TEA ON HER RARE TONGUE CONDITION AND GETS REAL ABOUT BEING STARSTRUCK
It's no secret that Kate McKinnon is a comedy genius, but it looks like she's got another trick up her sleeve - or rather, on her tongue! The Saturday Night Live alum has just revealed that she suffers from a rare condition called geographic tongue, and we're dying to know more!
According to the Mayo Clinic (via thescholarlynote.com), geographic tongue is an inflammatory but harmless condition that affects the surface of the tongue, making it look like a map - hence the name! It's characterized by smooth, red patches on the tongue, often with slightly raised borders. McKinnon, 41, has confessed that she found out about her condition after taking a photo of her tongue and sending it to an actor friend (yes, you read that right!) who also suffers from the same medical condition.
"I took a photo of my tongue and sent it to an actor friend of mine," McKinnon revealed in an interview with People. "We both have the same medical condition. It's called geographic tongue." The comedian explained that her tongue sheds in patches, looking like an atlas - which is exactly what the name "geographic tongue" means!
But don't worry, folks, this condition isn't life-threatening and won't stop McKinnon from slaying the comedy game or living her best life. In fact, she's even made light of it, joking with her friend about their "geographical" tongues. "We brag about how geographic we are on any given day," she quipped.
McKinnon isn't one to let a little thing like a rare medical condition get in the way of having fun. She and her friend have even started a tongue-wagging competition, where they show off their map-like tongues to each other! Who knew being "geographically challenged" could be so much fun?
But what's even more fascinating is McKinnon's candid conversation about being starstruck. Yes, you read that right - this comedy legend gets nervous around some of the biggest stars in the industry!
"I met Jesse Palmer at the SNL 50th Anniversary Special," McKinnon gushed. "I think I would be most starstrucked if I met someone from the HGTV universe." She even confessed to being totally smitten with Aziza, an HGTV personality. If she ever meets her, watch out - McKinnon might just faint at her feet!
And speaking of fainting, it looks like McKinnon's got a few more secrets up her sleeve (or rather, in her prop box!). She recently revealed that she still has a chess piece from the Barbie set as a souvenir. "I was given — I didn't steal — a chess piece from the Barbie set," she confessed. The actress even praised the prop designers for their incredible work, saying they should be featured in a museum!
But what's next for McKinnon? Well, it looks like she's got a new children's book series coming out - "The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science" is set to hit shelves soon! The second installment, "Secrets of the Purple Pearl", promises to be just as delightful and quirky as its predecessor.
So there you have it, folks - Kate McKinnon's got a rare tongue condition, she's starstruck, and she's still slaying the comedy game with her wit and charm. We can't wait to see what's next for this talented lady!
