Karen Gillan: The Highlander in the Making - Scots Actress to Lead Cult Movie Remake

Karen Gillan has revealed she will star in a remake of 1980s movie Highlander

SCOTLAND'S OWN SUPERSTAR TAKES ON THE ROLES OF A LIFETIME: KAREN GILLAN SET TO SLAY AS 'ACTUAL HIGHLANDER'

In a move that's got everyone in the film industry talking, Scots sensation Karen Gillan is set to star as the lead in a remake of the classic fantasy epic Highlander. And, if you can believe it, she won't even need to brush up on her Scottish brogue for the role!

The 37-year-old actress, who first rose to fame playing feisty Amy Pond on Doctor Who, has landed the coveted part of Heather, the wife of Connor MacLeod - and we hear it's going to be a game-changer. Not only will she get to showcase her acting chops in a major way, but she'll also get to spend quality time with her wee one back home.

Speaking exclusively to thescholarlynote.com, Gillan gushed about her new role: 'I'm absolutely over the moon to be playing an actual Highlander! My dialect coach can sit this one out - I've got the accent down pat!' And, it seems, she's not joking. Born and bred in Inverness, Scotland, Gillan is already a Highland lass at heart.

But what really gets our spidey senses tingling is that Gillan plans to bring her baby daughter, Clementine (who's only just over three months old!), onto the set of Highlander! 'I'm not going to leave my wee one behind,' she said firmly. 'She'll be coming with me to Scotland - and I can't wait to take her on all the family outings we've been promising.'

The original Highlander, released back in 1986, was a bit of a box office bomb at first (but who needs Oscars when you have cult status, right?). However, it spawned no less than four sequels and three TV series after becoming a surprise hit on video and DVD. And now, with Gillan on board as the lead, we can expect this new remake to be bigger and bolder than ever.

But what's really got everyone talking is that Gillan will be joined by none other than Superman actor Henry Cavill (yes, THAT Henry Cavill!) as her co-star! And, rumor has it, they'll both be filming on location in Scotland - so, if you're a fan of the country or just want to catch a glimpse of these two stars in action, keep your eyes peeled for Highlander's upcoming shoot!

When asked about what drew her to this particular project, Gillan was coy but cryptic: 'I'm always looking for reasons to come back to Scotland... and this role is one I couldn't possibly pass up.' And we can't help but wonder - is there more to this Highland lass than meets the eye?

Gillan's rise to fame began when she dropped out of drama school to pursue her dreams in TV. Landing the coveted part of Amy Pond on Doctor Who was just the beginning, and soon she was jetting off to Hollywood to star in blockbuster hits like Avengers: Infinity War, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Jumanji.

But what really caught our attention is that Gillan recently tied the knot with husband Nick Kocher at Castle Toward, near Dunoon, Argyll - a fairytale wedding if we ever saw one! And now, it seems she's ready to take on her next big role in a whole new way...

Gillan also spoke about her desire to keep working close to home: 'I think my next job is going to be in Scotland. I'm always looking for reasons to come back and spend time with family and friends.' And, judging by this latest scoop, it looks like that's exactly what she'll be doing - taking on the role of a lifetime as an actual Highlander!

But before we get too carried away, let's remember: the stakes are high, and these immortal warriors don't play around. Will Gillan be able to bring home the coveted 'Highlander' trophy? Only time (and her acting chops) will tell!
