JUSSIE SMOLLETT'S LOVE IS ON THE RISE!

In a move that's got everyone talking, Jussie Smollett has announced his engagement to partner Jabari Redd via Instagram - and it's a love story for the ages!

The 43-year-old Empire alum - who made headlines in 2021 when his conviction for allegedly faking a hate crime was overturned by the Illinois Supreme Court (more on that later!) - revealed the happy news with a joint post featuring himself, Jabari, and a stunning diamond ring. The caption read: "I'll be spending my birthday with my Fiancé... He said YES" alongside a sparkling diamond ring emoji.

The former Empire actor, who turns 43 on Saturday, shared the happy new with his 4.5 million followers in a joint post with his beau; pictured in 2024

The professional photos, snapped by @artbyalyx, showed Jussie getting down on one knee, Jabari's shocked expression, and the couple's subsequent romantic embrace. And let me tell you - it's clear these two are meant to be!

Among the many congratulatory comments were those from Jussie's sisters Jazz and Jurnee Smollett (yes, they're actual siblings!) who wrote: "Screaming with tears of joy! My whole heart loves both of you. @jussiesmollett. Welcome to the family @jabariredd. ❤️❤️" and "Yaaaass!!! Welcome to the family Jabari!!! Love y'all!! Sooooo happy for you both!" respectively.

Even Jussie's former TV mom Taraji P. Henson got in on the action, writing: "MY BABIES ❤️❤️❤️." It's clear that these two are part of a loving community!

So, what's behind this love story? Well, it just so happens that Jussie and Jabari have been working together on their latest project - the film The Lost Holliday, which premiered at the 28th annual American Black Film Festival in June 2024. The movie stars both Jussie and Jabari, alongside Vivica A. Fox and more.

This past May, The Lost Holliday was made available on Prime, giving fans everywhere a chance to see these two talented actors shine on screen together. And let's just say - their chemistry is undeniable!

Jussie's directorial debut (after 2022's B-Boy Blues) has been praised for its hopeful message. "It's such a hopeful film," he told People last year. "I think that's what I really get from this film for my own life, is that it's so hopeful. It so, 'What is the next day going to be like? What is tomorrow going to bring me?'"

Jussie settled his 'hate crime hoax' with the city of Chicago in May, paying $50k to charity to resolve the six-year saga; seen in 2022

And speaking of Jussie's personal life - you might recall his highly publicized case involving a reported hate crime in 2019. Well, after years of legal wrangling (and a settlement with the City of Chicago), it looks like Jussie has put that chapter behind him and is focusing on love, happiness, and making beautiful art!
