Joanna's Secret Rule: A Cake Plate Stand Filled with Deliciousness!

The 47-year-old said that she has a cake plate in her kitchen that she insists must always be filled with a sweet treat

The 47-year-old lifestyle maven revealed that since their wedding in 2003, she has implemented a 'weird rule' at home. You see, Joanna had a beautiful cake plate stand gifted to her on their special day – but it was empty! As the newlyweds welcomed friends and family into their Waco farmhouse, Joanna realized she needed something to fill that gorgeous plate. And so, the rule was born: always have something on the cake plate stand for guests or family members.

"I just thought, 'I need to start having something in there,' " Joanna explained during her Today appearance. "It's really me now just eating the stuff, so that's fun. It's now for me!"

But don't get it twisted – this isn't just about being a gracious hostess; it's about creating memories and making their home feel warm and inviting.

'The rule is just kind of always have something on the cake plate stand for the family or for guests - it¿s really me now just eating the stuff, so that¿s fun. It¿s now for me'

Marriage Goals: Chip and Joanna's Non-Negotiables

The Gaineses have been married for over two decades, and while that's no small feat, they've faced their fair share of ups and downs. In a recent interview on the Stronger Podcast with Don Saladino, Joanna opened up about how they navigated the challenges of marriage, fame, and raising five children.

"From day one, we had non-negotiables," Joanna shared. "We would say to each other, 'How will this affect our family?' or 'If this all goes away, do we still have each other?' That was always our core foundation."

Chip, 50, echoed his wife's sentiments, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing their relationship above all else.

"If I'm being honest, if all of this – fame, success, money – would instantly go away, and my wife and kids were back on the farm raising animals, that would be the ultimate win for me," Chip said during the interview. "Jo and I believe we can have our cake and eat it too; we can be successful and have a healthy marriage and family."

Fame, Family, and Wellness: The Gaineses' New Chapter

As their empire continues to grow, the Gaineses are embarking on a new journey – wellness! In an effort to balance their busy lives, they're focusing on fitness and self-care.

"At this stage in our life, we're trying to figure out how to prioritize family, business, and now this new thing: wellness and health," Joanna shared. "It's like, 'Okay, what are we doing? What are we eating? How are we taking care of ourselves?'"

With their children growing older – Drake is 20, Ella is 18, Duke is 17, Emmie is 15, and Crew is seven – the Gaineses know they need to be intentional about making time for each other and prioritizing their relationship.

As fans of Chip and Joanna continue to marvel at their incredible success, it's clear that this power couple's greatest accomplishment is their enduring love for each other.
