Jimmy Fallon Mourns Beloved Dog Gary in Heartfelt Tribute

Jimmy Fallon revealed his beloved dog had died in a heartbreaking post on Monday

SCANDAL ROCKS NBC: JIMMY FALLON'S DOG GARY PASSES AWAY, BUT CONTROVERSY SWIRLS AROUND LATE NIGHT HOST

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has been mired in controversy over its host's reluctance to tackle politics on his show. But just as the drama was dying down, Fallon dropped a bombshell on his Instagram page: his beloved dog Gary had passed away.

The 51-year-old late night host shared a heart-wrenching post, accompanied by photos of his family and their deceased pup. In a eulogy that left fans in tears, Fallon wrote about Gary's mischievous antics and loving personality.

"She was the last name we signed on every birthday card," Fallon gushed. "She was our first baby, a therapist, a pillow, a big sister, a schoolmarm, a comedian, a party girl, and a rebel. Definitely not a watchdog—she would have let burglars in and shown them where we kept the bacon and American cheese slices."

But amidst the outpouring of love for Gary, Fallon's comments on politics continued to spark outrage among fans. In an interview with CNBC's Squawk on the Street, Fallon revealed that his plan to avoid making things "political" at The Tonight Show was met with widespread criticism.

"I'm not looking to make things political," Fallon said, attempting to placate his detractors. "We've never really been a political show, and I don't see us becoming one anytime soon."

Sharing photos of his wife and children with their beloved pet, he wrote: 'She was the last name we signed on every birthday card'

However, Fallon's claims were quickly disputed by critics who pointed out that the late night host has been accused of being spineless in the past. "He's always been more concerned with making everyone laugh than standing up for what he believes in," said one fan.

Fallon's reluctance to tackle politics on his show was first criticized after an interview with President Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign, where Fallon took a lighthearted approach to questioning the then-candidate. "It was a joke, but it fell flat," said another viewer.

Since then, Fallon has been accused of "bothsidesing" – taking a neutral stance on sensitive issues in an attempt to appease both sides. But critics argue that this approach only alienates viewers who are passionate about politics.

"It's not just about hitting both sides equally; it's about making people laugh and entertaining everyone," Fallon said, attempting to justify his strategy. "Our monologues are kind of the same that we've been doing since Johnny Carson was hosting The Tonight Show."

But fans aren't buying it. "Nope, Jimmy, 'bothsidesing' is NOT good comedy," tweeted one viewer. "It's weakness. It's neutral. It's meh. It's change the channel."

The controversy surrounding Fallon's politics has sparked a heated debate among late night hosts. Stephen Colbert was fired from his CBS show this past summer after being accused of pushing too many left-wing views, while Jimmy Kimmel was suspended for making a remark linked to the Republican reaction to the tragic killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

President Trump even weighed in on the controversy, tweeting that Fallon and other late night hosts would be "next" to go. "The word is, and it's a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes," Trump tweeted.

But not everyone is calling for Fallon's head. Some fans have come to his defense, arguing that politics has never been his thing. "You can tell he gets uncomfortable talking about it on his show," said one viewer.

As The Tonight Show continues to air weeknights on NBC at 11:35/10:35c, the controversy surrounding Fallon's politics shows no signs of dying down. Will the late night host finally take a stand, or will he continue to walk the tightrope between offending neither side? Only time will tell.
