Jillian Michaels Plans Lawsuit Against Netflix: Caffeine Controversy Exposed

Celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels has revealed she plans to take legal action against Netflix following the release of their bombshell The Biggest Loser docuseries

EXCLUSIVE: Jillian Michaels Serves Up a Heaping Helping of Drama, Threatens Lawsuit Against Netflix Over "The Biggest Loser" Docuseries

Get ready for a juicy serving of drama, folks! Celebrity trainer and fitness guru Jillian Michaels is stirring the pot, and it's about to get real. In a bombshell move, Michaels has revealed that she plans to take legal action against Netflix following the release of their explosive docuseries, "The Biggest Loser" - and it's all because they're painting her in a not-so-flattering light.

Michaels, 51, who was one of the fitness experts on the hit weight loss show from 2004-2013, is feeling the heat after producers accused her of breaking the rules by giving her team caffeine pills without doctor's permission back in 2013. The controversy led to eliminated contestant Ruben Studdard being brought back into the competition - but Michaels claims she was just trying to give her team a little pick-me-up.

"I stand by my opinion," Michaels said at the time. "A caffeine supplement is significantly healthier than unlimited amounts of coffee."

But it seems that Netflix's new docuseries, "Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser," has brought up some old drama that Michaels isn't too thrilled about. In a series of tweets and a post on her Instagram story, Michaels accuses host Bob Harper and show medic Dr. Robert Huizenga of lying about not approving the use of caffeine pills - and claims she's meeting with lawyer Bryan Freedman to discuss taking action against Netflix.

"I'm planning to take them down," Michaels declared. "I've got proof that I was following the rules, and it's time someone tells the truth."

After the drama was trotted back out in , Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser which debuted earlier this month, Michaels accused Harper (L) and show medic Dr. Robert Huizenga (R) of lying about not approving the use of caffeine pills - and revealed her plans to sue

Michaels shared a series of emails purportedly between herself, Harper, show producers, and Huizenga's aide - which she claims proves that caffeine was never banned on the show. In one email chain, Michaels shows that Dr. Huizenga did approve the use of caffeine pills on multiple seasons of the show.

But what's even juicier is that this controversy has been brewing for years. According to an insider close to the show, tensions between Michaels and Harper had been building for months before the docuseries was released.

"Jillian and Bob were never as close as everyone thought they were," the source revealed. "They were just good TV partners - but after the heart attack, things got really ugly."

Harper's 2017 heart attack was a major storyline in the Netflix series - and he even spoke out about it on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

"It was one of the hardest things that I've ever gone through," Harper said. "I was dead on the gym floor for nine minutes. It was only because there was a doctor that was in this gym – he had to pound and pound on my chest to try to get some sort of electric current going through my heart again for the AED to work."

But here's the kicker - Harper claimed that Michaels never reached out to him after his heart attack, which really seemed to hurt.

"After I had my heart attack, she's the one person I never heard from," Harper said. "So, I mean, that to me spoke volumes."

And it seems like the drama is far from over. Thescholarlynote.com has reached out to representatives for Netflix, Bob Harper, and Dr Robert Huizenga for comment - but so far, no one has responded.

In the meantime, Michaels is taking matters into her own hands. She's planning a lawsuit against Netflix, claiming that they're defaming her character with their docuseries.

On Tuesday she posted emails purportedly between herself, Harper, the show producers and Huizenga's aide which she claims proves caffeine was never a banned substance and that she was encouraged to hand it out

"I'm not going down without a fight," Michaels said in a statement to TMZ. "I've got the truth on my side, and I'm ready to take on Netflix."

So, will this drama ever end? Only time will tell - but one thing's for sure: it's about to get real messy!

UPDATE: Thescholarlynote.com has reached out to representatives for all parties involved in the controversy - including Netflix, Bob Harper, and Dr Robert Huizenga. As of now, no one has responded.

The Biggest Loser was a hit weight loss show that ran on NBC from 2004-2016 - before being rebooted on USA Network in 2020. But behind-the-scenes drama had been brewing for years, with contestants speaking out about the dangers of extreme weight loss methods.

In the Netflix docuseries "Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser," former contestants spoke candidly about their experiences on the show - including fasting for 10 days and undergoing intense exercise regimes while consuming minimal calories. But Michaels is fighting back, claiming that she was unfairly targeted by producers and host Bob Harper.

The penultimate text to Harper read: 'I really think it's s****y of you to not even respond to my texts. It's this kind of thing that always makes me so disappointed in our relationship'

One of The Biggest Loser's controversies came in 2014, when season 15 winner Rachel Frederickson showed off her very slim frame, prompting Michaels to look visibly shocked and mouth 'Oh my God'
