Jennifer Love Hewitt's Iconic Return: 'What Are You Waiting For?' Ignites Fan Frenzy!

Sony Pictures threw fans into a frenzy with the release of their new trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer, which features an epic callback.

JULIE'S ICONIC LINE MAKES A TRIUMPHANT RETURN!

Get ready for a thrilling ride as Sony Pictures drops a new trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer, and it's got fans going wild! The highly-anticipated sequel brings back the original stars, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., in a juicy callback that will leave you screaming "What are you waiting for?!"

The film is a continuation of the 1997 cult classic, which followed four teens who cover up a horrific accident only to have it come back to haunt them a year later. This new installment brings back Love Hewitt and Prinze Jr. as Julie James and Ray Bronson from the original, but with a fresh cast of characters.

This trailer offers a slew of new footage, with the trailer ending with Love Hewitt repeating her iconic line from the first film - 'What are you waiting for?'

The trailer opens on Danica Richards' (Madelyn Cline) engagement party, where her friends Ava (Chase Sui Wonders), Milo (Jonah Hauer-King), Teddy (Tyriq Withers), and Stevie (Sarah Pidgeon) are getting cozy. But things take a dark turn when Danica opens one last card, revealing the cryptic title phrase "I Know What You Did Last Summer" – and a flashback to an accident eerily similar to the one from the original film.

As the group of friends tries to dismiss any notion of going to the cops, they track down Julie and Ray, survivors of the infamous Southport Massacre of 1997. The trailer features Julie and Ray trying to help the friends, with some serious tension building as they try to figure out who's behind the creepy stalker.

One of the most iconic shots in the trailer shows Ray pointing a gun at someone off-camera, while another has Julie telling Ava, "Get them before they get you. Whoever is doing this, it's personal to them." And let's not forget the final shot – Julie telling one of the youngsters, "We're not gonna die today" – but that final line had fans talking!

The final shot shows Love Hewitt repeating her iconic line from the original film, "What are you waiting for?" – and fans lost it! X user Robert Anthony (@robanthonyeadon) shouted out, "JULIE SAID IT!!!", while Aussie Corpse (@adam_mossman) quote-retweeted that tweet, adding, "#jenniferlovehewitt said THE THING! #IKnowWhatYouDidLastSummer."

Amy Koto (@TVFanaticGirl) shared a GIF of Love Hewitt's original line, adding, "Ohhh she said it!", while Fear Horror Guru (@fearqueerhorror) simply declared, "Queen #jenniferlovehewitt will always have the last words #IKnowWhatYouDidLastSummer #horror." Nick Greeley (@NickGreeley) chimed in, "She said the thing!" and JayJay (@JJ353774) recalled how the original line first came to be.

In a hilarious flashback, Love Hewitt revealed on Fox's 9-1-1 that the iconic line was actually directed by an unnamed kid who won a contest! "That scene was actually directed by a kid who won a contest to come on and create a moment for the movie," she joked. "I have no idea where he is, but he’s like, 'I want her to stand in the street and turn around and just scream "What are you waiting for, huh?"' I was literally like, 'Are you kidding me right now? This is what I’m gonna do? OK. This was a great idea.'"

When they dismiss any notion of going to the cops, they track down both Julie and Ray, survivors of the now-infamous Southport Massacre of 1997.

The original film grossed $126 million worldwide from a mere $17 million budget, spawning two sequels: I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) and I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006). With this new installment, fans are eagerly anticipating what's in store for Julie and her friends as they try to survive another summer of terror!

Stay tuned for more updates on I Know What You Did Last Summer, hitting theaters July 18!
