JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT'S BOMBSHELL: How Body Shaming Nearly Destroyed Her Career!

In a jaw-dropping revelation, 46-year-old superstar Jennifer Love Hewitt spilled the tea on how body criticism in her early days as a teen sensation left her reeling. The actress, best known for her roles in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Party of Five, revealed that she was so traumatized by the relentless scrutiny that she almost turned down the opportunity to revisit her iconic character Julie in the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel!

In an explosive interview with Vulture, Hewitt opened up about the devastating impact of body shaming on her psyche. She confessed that it wasn't until she watched the 2021 New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears that she finally understood the profound effects of being subjected to constant criticism for her appearance.

As Hewitt recalled, "When I started watching it, I was like, 'Oh, they talked to me like that. Oh.' I started crying for her. And then I realized I was crying for me."

The former child star's revelation is a stark reminder of the crippling effects of body shaming on young women in Hollywood. Hewitt rose to fame as a teenager, starring in hit shows and films like Party of Five, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Heartbreakers, and Can't Hardly Wait. However, her rapid rise to stardom was matched only by the intense scrutiny she faced from the media and the public.

In the early 2000s, Hewitt became a household name, making her a magnet for criticism. She recalled that the media coverage at the time was relentless, with headlines like "Boob, boob, boob" dominating the headlines.

The final straw came when a paparazzi shot of Hewitt wearing a bikini in Hawaii sparked a firestorm of weight-related commentary. At the time, she spoke out against body shaming, declaring, "A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful... To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini - put it on and stay strong!"

But the damage had already been done. The cover of People magazine featured the headline "Stop Calling Me Fat!" – an image that still haunts her to this day.

Hewitt confessed to Vulture, "I don't think I was ever really insecure until that cover. And then when it happened, I don't know that I've ever recovered from it... Because there's a part of me that's always like, is this version going to be good enough, or is that going to happen again? Where somebody's going to be like, 'Hey, this is her without makeup at the cleaners. She looks 59'."

Jennifer thanked photographer Amanda Demme, who shot her Vulture photo spread, 'for the coolest shoot'
