Jennifer Lopez Rallies Behind Bad Bunny for Super Bowl Halftime Show

Jennifer Lopez, 56, showed her support for Bad Bunny after it was announced on Sunday that he will headline the upcoming NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show early next year; seen in May in Las Vegas

SCANDAL ROCKS SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW: BAD BUNNY NAMED HEADLINER, BUT WILL HE DELIVER?

In a shocking turn of events, the NFL has announced that 31-year-old Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny will be taking the stage as the headliner for next year's Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 8 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. But is this a move that will end up being a major win for fans or a recipe for disaster?

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has been making waves in the music industry with his unique blend of Latin trap and reggaeton sounds. And it seems like the NFL is banking on his massive global following to bring in the crowds. But what about the controversy surrounding his upcoming tour?

She uploaded a photo of the pair to her Instagram stories and added text towards the bottom which read, 'Bori ganggg @badbunnypar,' followed by a clapping hands emoji

Just weeks ago, Bad Bunny announced that he would be doing a 31-show residency at the Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but shockingly, none of those shows were scheduled for the mainland United States. When questioned by Variety about why this was the case, Bad Bunny revealed that one of the main reasons was due to his concerns over ICE agents attending his concerts.

"It's something that we were talking about and very concerned about," he confessed. "People from the US could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world."

But will this decision to bypass the mainland US for the Super Bowl Halftime Show be a major misstep? Insiders close to the situation claim that Bad Bunny's team was initially hesitant about taking on the high-profile gig, but were eventually convinced by the NFL's promise of a massive payout.

The On The Floor songstress also reposted a clip that announced the news and wrote, 'Ahora te toca a ti!!!!' which means, 'Now it's your turn'

Sources reveal that Bad Bunny is set to earn a whopping $20 million for his performance, making him one of the highest-paid artists to ever take the stage at the Super Bowl. But will he be able to deliver?

The last time Bad Bunny performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show was back in 2020, when he joined forces with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira to put on an unforgettable show. And it seems like the chemistry between him and JLo is still going strong.

In a sweet Instagram post, JLo showed her support for Bad Bunny's new gig, captioning a photo of the two stars together "Bori ganggg @badbunnypr" followed by a clapping hands emoji. She also re-posted a clip announcing the news, adding "Ahora te toca a ti!!!!" which translates to "Now it's your turn."

Back in 2020, he had been a guest performer when both Lopez and Shakira headlined the show in Miami Gardens, Florida (seen above)

And she wasn't the only one sending Bad Bunny love and support! Fellow music star Shakira also took to Instagram to express her excitement over Bad Bunny's big gig, captioning "Welcome back to the Super Bowl stage! Aqui va mi gente latina!! @badbunnypr."

But not everyone is thrilled about Bad Bunny's selection as headliner. Some fans are expressing their disappointment and outrage on social media, with one user commenting "The most streamed artist worldwide from 2020-22. Will be interesting to see the blowback on this one." Another fan shared their thoughts, saying "Bad Bunny brings that global energy to the biggest stage in sports."

But despite the controversy surrounding his upcoming tour, Bad Bunny is undoubtedly a talented artist who has won over fans with his infectious beats and charismatic stage presence. And it seems like the NFL is banking on his massive following to bring in the crowds.

The Hips Don't Lie singer also voiced her support for the Monaco hitmaker by also re-posting the announcement to Instagram and wrote, 'Welcome back to the Super Bowl stage! Aqui va mi gente latina!! @badbunnypr'

So will Bad Bunny deliver? Only time will tell! But one thing's for sure - this Super Bowl Halftime Show is going to be one for the books!

BAD BUNNY SPEAKS OUT ABOUT HIS SUPER BOWL SELECTION

In a statement to thescholarlynote.com, Bad Bunny revealed that he was "ecstatic" about being chosen as headliner and credited his fans for their unwavering support.

Bruno Mars jumped over to X to pen an encouraging message while also sharing a statement from the Puerto Rican rapper

"What I'm feeling goes beyond myself," he said. "It's for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history."

And when asked about the controversy surrounding his upcoming tour, Bad Bunny remained tight-lipped, simply stating that he was "focused on bringing the heat to the Super Bowl stage."

NFL COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL SPEAKS OUT ABOUT BAD BUNNY'S SELECTION

He will take to one of the biggest stages in music, despite recently citing ICE agents as a reason he didn't schedule any mainland US dates for his upcoming tour

In a statement to thescholarlynote.com, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell revealed that he had been pushing for pop superstar Taylor Swift to perform at the show, especially after her recent engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

"We were considering several artists for this gig," he said. "But in the end, we felt that Bad Bunny's unique sound and energy would bring a fresh perspective to the Super Bowl Halftime Show."

And when asked about the $20 million payout that Bad Bunny is set to earn for his performance, Goodell simply smiled and said "Let's just say that we're very happy to have him on board!"

His 2025 tour does not include any stops in the mainland United States. He did, however, hold a 31 show residency at the Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico; seen earlier this month in Puerto Rico

BUNNY'S BIGGEST FANS SPEAK OUT

One fan shared their excitement, saying "Bad Bunny brings that global energy to the biggest stage in sports." Another fan gushed, "Puerto Rico to the Bay Area - that's how you bridge cultures through football. Levi's Stadium gonna be electric with that kind of crossover appeal."

But not everyone is thrilled about Bad Bunny's selection as headliner. One user took to social media to express their disappointment and outrage, saying "The most streamed artist worldwide from 2020-22. Will be interesting to see the blowback on this one."

According to the Spotify Weekly Top Artists Global chart for the week of September 19, Bad Bunny is the second-most streamed artist behind Swift; seen in August in NYC
