Jenna Bush Hager Plans to Close Today Show Chapter and Move Back to Texas

Today with Jenna & Friends host Jenna Bush Hager confessed that she's been thinking about her 'next chapter' during Wednesday's episode

EXCLUSIVE: Jenna Bush Hager Spills the Tea on Her Future Plans - and They're Shocking!

In a jaw-dropping confession that has left fans of the Today show stunned, Jenna Bush Hager revealed her secret desire to ditch the Big Apple for the Lone Star State. The 43-year-old mom-of-three, who has been a staple on the morning show for over 15 years, let slip during an on-air chat with co-host Matt Rogers that she's been itching to leave New York and relocate back to Austin, Texas.

And it seems her children are the reason behind this sudden change of heart. Jenna confessed that she wants her kids - Mila (12), Poppy (9), and Hal (6) - to experience a "big public high school" like she did as a kid, hinting that she might be making the move sooner rather than later.

She opened up about what she plans to do whenever her time on the morning show 'comes to a close,' and said she wants to move back to Austin, Texas, where she grew up

"I think everybody should have chapters in their lives," Jenna said, before Matt cut her off mid-sentence. "Well why would that ever happen?" he asked, clearly taken aback by Jenna's confession. Jenna just laughed and responded with a sly smile: "Linear television, baby! Who knows?"

But it seems Jenna's not the only one who's ready to move on from the Today show. Her former co-host Hoda Kotb, who left the program in recent months to focus on her young daughters, has been keeping busy with her new wellness company Joy 101.

Jenna joined the Today show back in 2009 and began co-hosting Today with Hoda & Jenna in 2019, which was later renamed following Hoda's departure. And it seems she's been itching for a change of scenery - or maybe even a change of pace?

She said she wanted her children Mila, 12, Poppy, nine, and Hal, six, to go to a 'big public high school' like she did as a kid

But before we dive into Jenna's potential exit from the morning show, let's take a look back at her recent controversies. Just weeks ago, Jenna faced backlash after seemingly body-shaming a dad on air.

The Speedo Scandal

In an embarrassing blunder that left many fans cringing, Jenna and co-host Dwyane Wade mocked men wearing Speedos during a segment discussing dads wanting to normalize the swimwear. "If my husband brought out a Speedo, I'd be shocked," Jenna said, before quipping: "And by the way, a man thigh?" Dwyane chimed in, saying: "Yeah, a hairy man thigh, nobody wants to see that."

She said, 'When I’m ready to go to my next chapter, I think it would be so nice to move back to Texas and let my kids - I went to a big public high school - have a different life'

But things took a turn when a photo of Tyler Moore, a New York City-based dad who had gone viral for wanting to wear Speedos with his kids, popped up on screen. Jenna made another cringe-worthy comment, saying: "And I would just say, not every dad looks like that model dad that we just put on TV."

Tyler was understandably upset by the remarks and took to social media to express his outrage. In a scathing post, he wrote:

"It's a surreal experience to have your body publicly discussed and shamed on national television... Seeing women tearing other women down over gaining or losing weight is insane to me. Seeing men even having an opinion on this is even more insane to me."

The Backlash

Tyler's comments sparked a heated debate about body shaming, with many fans calling out Jenna for her thoughtless remarks. But despite the backlash, it seems Jenna remains committed to moving forward - and maybe even leaving the Today show behind.

So what's next for Jenna Bush Hager? Will she take the plunge and leave the Big Apple for the Lone Star State? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: this mom-of-three is ready for a change of pace.
