Jason Isaacs Spills Tea: 'White Lotus' Pay Revealed as ‘Very Low’
WHITE LOTUS EXPOSED: Jason Isaacs Spills on Behind-the-Scenes Drama, Paychecks, and Frenemies
In a bombshell interview with Vulture, Jason Isaacs opened up about his experience working on the hit HBO series The White Lotus, revealing shocking paychecks, behind-the-scenes drama, and even a hint of romance among the cast members. Get ready for the tea!
Isaacs, who played wealthy businessman Timothy Ratliff in the third season, confirmed that he and his co-stars earned a paltry $40,000 per episode – a far cry from what fans might expect from such a high-profile show. "That's absolutely true," he told Vulture, adding, "Generally actors don't talk about pay in public because it's ridiculously disproportionate to what we do — putting on makeup and funny voices — and just upsets the public."
But it seems Isaacs wasn't just talking about his paycheck; he was also dishing out some juicy gossip. When asked if he had any complicated feelings about earning the same as less-experienced co-stars, he revealed that even he thought it was a low price tag. "I never work for money," he said with a wink. "People will think I have huge stockpiles of money, but sadly, what I've done rather immaturely is expand my outgoings to match my incomings and pretty much spent everything I've earned over the years."
Isaacs' candor about his paychecks comes hot on the heels of his revelation that fame makes him "feel empty." In a previous interview with The Table Manners podcast, he confessed that being famous can be "a bit naff" and even embarrassing at times. "It feels like it's swinging the pendulum," he said, suggesting that maybe, just maybe, his wealth and status can be used for good.
But Isaacs wasn't done dishing out the drama yet! He also spoke about how some of his co-stars were a bit too... enthusiastic about their experience on set. "A lot of the other actors are very good kind of brand managers," he said with a sly smile. "They go, 'It was wonderful, Thailand was fabulous...' But I said it was like Lord of the Flies." Ahem, we think we get the hint!
Isaacs' comments sent fans into a frenzy, especially when it came to speculations about off-screen relationships between co-stars Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins. The two played on-screen lovers but were thought to have fallen out after they unfollowed each other on social media – until now, that is! According to sources close to the cast, they've since made up and are back to following each other.
But not everyone was amused by Isaacs' oversharing. Co-star Aimee Lou Wood took to Instagram to poke fun at his loose lips, resharing a meme that read: "Interviewer: So did you enjoy Thailand? Jason Isaacs:..." with a laughing face and tagging him in the post. Looks like someone's got a sense of humor!
Isaacs' comments also sparked rumors about other cast members getting along or not – but it seems he was just trying to keep things real. "It was a cross between summer camp and Lord of the Flies, but in a gilded cage," he summed up his experience on set.
And speaking of behind-the-scenes drama, Aimee Lou Wood herself dished out some tea about their living arrangements on set. "We wrap and walk five steps to your room," she revealed. "You're living where you're filming. It is the Truman Show." Talk about intense!
All in all, it seems like The White Lotus might be more drama-filled than fans ever could have imagined! Stay tuned for more tea spilling from this A-list cast – and don't say we didn't warn you!
