Is It Real or Just For Show? The Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson 'Romance'

There was more than a hint of deja vu about Monday night's proceedings as New York City provided the latest backdrop for Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson's global flirtfest

THE NAKED GUN REVIVAL: IS LIAM NEESON'S RECENT ROMANCE WITH PAMELA ANDERSON THE REAL DEAL OR JUST A WELL-CRAFTED PUBLICITY STUNT?

The red carpet has been set ablaze with whispers of a possible romance between Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson, the star-studded duo leading the charge in the revival of classic comedy The Naked Gun. But is their on-screen chemistry bleeding into real life, or are they just playing their parts for the cameras?

As we delve into the fascinating world of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors and damsels-in-distress, it becomes clear that Neeson, 71, has been out of the dating game for quite some time. His last high-profile romance was with Freya St. Johnston in 2010, but it ultimately fizzled out due to his desire to focus on raising their two young sons, Micheál and Daniel.

Since then, Neeson's love life has been eerily quiet – until now, that is. The Irish heartthrob seems to have fallen head over heels for the blonde bombshell, with insiders claiming they've been inseparable since meeting on set.

But are we just getting carried away by their undeniable chemistry? According to body language expert Judi James, it's all just a cleverly crafted publicity stunt. "There is clearly some 'chemistry' between the couple, which is apparent from the facial feature softening as they perform mutual eye-gaze," she told The Scholarly Note in an exclusive interview. "However, there is also an air of mutual respect, too, that comes with some break-outs of polite rather than sensual behaviors."

James points out that Neeson and Anderson's poses are still mainly in response to requests from the photographers, but when they're off-duty – like when posing with their children or doing interviews about the movie – their flirtatious behavior seems to stop.

The pair appeared to be glued at the hip on Monday, with Anderson's frequent coquettish glances and habit of playfully leaning into Neeson well in evidence during their latest premiere

"It's almost as if they're playing a role, just like Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley did back in 1994," James says. "Their body language rituals are so similar that it looks like a deliberate nod to the original."

Anderson, who has recently spoken about her natural chemistry with Neeson on set, credits their shared love of literature and laughter as the foundation of their off-screen friendship. The Canadian star, known for her stunning beauty and charming wit, has been smitten by Neeson's "humble" nature and "perfect gentleman" behavior.

"Pamela adores Liam," a source close to the couple reveals. "She loves his kind heart, his sense of humor, and the way he looks at her with such warmth and admiration."

Neeson, too, has been effusive in his praise for Anderson, calling her "a fantastic cook" who made him delicious sourdough bread on set. Their on-screen romance, which sees Neeson play inept police lieutenant Frank Drebin to Anderson's vampish nightclub singer Beth, has been getting plenty of attention – but is it just a publicity stunt or the real deal?

Anderson recently revealed that she baked cookies and muffins for Neeson on set, making him feel like he was at home. "We had a lot of fun together," she gushed to Entertainment Weekly in May. "Our chemistry was clear from the start. We have the utmost respect for one another."

But can their romance withstand the scrutiny of the public eye? After all, Neeson has been married twice before – first to Natasha Richardson, who tragically passed away in 2009, and then to Freya St. Johnston – leaving some wondering if he's truly ready to settle down with Anderson.

James believes their dynamic draws telling parallels with the contrived flirtatiousness shared by original Naked Gun stars Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley (pictured)

"I'm a hopeless romantic," Neeson gushed to PEOPLE about his new co-star. "Pamela is an incredible person, and I'm so grateful to have her in my life."

For now, fans will just have to keep on speculating – but one thing's for sure: the chemistry between Neeson and Anderson is undeniable, even if their romance remains a closely guarded secret.

As James astutely observes, "Red carpet body language is only ever really a form of spin-off show from the main movie, meaning fans might have to wait until the film plugging is over before they can see if this 'romance' has legs."

But we can't help but wonder: will Neeson and Anderson's love story be the one that finally rescues him from his solitary existence? Only time will tell.

'There are moments here that suggest the couple are happily getting back into role to recreate scenes or stills from the movie, like when Pamela faces Liam, placing one hand on his chest'
