Idris Elba and Daughter Isan Steal the Show at NYC Film Festival Premiere
IDRIS ELBA'S DAUGHTER ISAN SHINES AT NEW YORK FILM FESTIVAL PREMIERE OF A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE
Idris Elba made a rare appearance with his stunning daughter Isan at the star-studded New York Film Festival premiere of his latest American thriller, A House Of Dynamite. The 53-year-old actor and rapper was every bit as dashing as he is in his on-screen roles, looking absolutely suave in a black suit and tie, while Isan sizzled in a one-shouldered black shimmery sheer ruched dress that showcased her curves to perfection.
The family outing was a lovely change of pace for Idris, who's often accompanied by his wife Sabrina on the red carpet. But this time, he brought along his 23-year-old daughter Isan, with whom he shares a close bond despite their occasional disagreements in the past. As we reported earlier, Idris recently revealed that his daughter didn't speak to him for three whole weeks after she failed to land a role in his upcoming film Beast.
But it seems like they've both moved on from that minor setback and are now enjoying quality time together at film festivals. Isan has always been fascinated by the behind-the-scenes world of filmmaking, thanks to her dad's constant involvement in the industry. In fact, she confessed to Tatler magazine last year that she wants to follow in his footsteps as a producer!
"I grew up on film sets and I've been around that my entire life so it was kind of a no-brainer," Isan explained during the interview. "When I was much younger I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian, but once I realised what my parents did – and you know, they are my idols – I realised I want to be in the film industry."
And who can blame her? With her dad being the Sexiest Man Alive (yes, that's right - Idris was voted People Magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' in 2018), Isan must have grown up with some pretty high standards to live up to! When asked about her dad's title, she jokingly replied: "It is [cringe]. I try to ignore it. Sometimes I wake up from nightmares in cold sweats thinking about that."
Despite their occasional disagreements, Idris has always been a devoted father and has encouraged Isan to pursue her dreams. In fact, he even shared some valuable advice she gave him during an interview: "He's always taught me to make sure you acknowledge everybody you're around because you never know who you're going to meet. They could be your next best friend!"
But what caught our attention is the juicy gossip surrounding Isan's audition for Beast. According to Idris, he and his daughter didn't quite have the chemistry needed for the film, which is set in a fictional world where animals are terrorising humans. Will Packer, the producer of the movie, had to break the news to Isan that she hadn't landed the role, leaving her heartbroken for three whole weeks.
However, it seems like Idris and his daughter have both moved on from that setback and are now enjoying each other's company at film festivals. We can't wait to see what's next for this talented duo!
A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE: THE PLOT
Directed by the acclaimed Kathryn Bigelow (who also directed The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty) and written by Noah Oppenheim, A House Of Dynamite is a gripping American thriller that follows the story of an incoming missile attack on the United States. With its terrifying nuclear war scenes, which have been dubbed "more frightening than most horror films", this movie promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Joining Idris Elba in the cast are Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos and Moses Ingram. The movie premiered at the Venice International Film Festival on September 2 and will be available on Netflix from October 24.
