Howard Stern's Shocking Comeback Cancelled Amid Personal Tragedy
SHOCKING TWIST: Howard Stern's SiriusXM Show on Life Support
The King of All Media is facing a royal rumble, and it's not pretty. Howard Stern, 71, has reportedly abandoned his promise to return to his SiriusXM show this Tuesday, leaving fans in shock and his staff reeling.
According to sources close to the situation, Stern's decision was sparked by frustrations over his new contract negotiations with the satellite/online radio company. Insiders claim that the billionaire broadcaster is fed up with the current terms and is considering packing it in after a 20-year run on SiriusXM.
But wait, there's more! Stern's personal life is also taking center stage, as he grapples with his aging mother Ray Schiffman Stern's health struggles. The Queen of Queens-born matriarch will turn 98 next month, and Stern has been vocal about wanting to make her comfortable in her golden years.
"I don't want my mom to be uncomfortable," Stern lamented on his show back in February 2022. "I just want to fix her." Little did he know that his father Ben would pass away five months later due to prostate cancer, leaving Stern to carry the torch alone.
As his SiriusXM show's listeners dwindle to a mere 125K (a far cry from its former glory of 20M), Stern's reputation as a radio icon is under fire. Former staffer Steve Grillo blasted the shock jock's decision to go woke last September, declaring that he "lost many listeners" by comparing President Donald Trump to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
"People cared about what he said every single day, and then he turns on them," Grillo fumed. "What kind of arrogance and stupidity is that?"
But it gets even juicier! President Trump himself weighed in on the situation, recalling his 20 appearances on Stern's show, including an infamous episode with daughter Ivanka.
"Howard Stern is a name I haven't heard - I used to do his show, we used to have fun," Trump said. "What happened? He got terminated?" Ahem, not quite yet, Mr. President!
When asked about when things started going downhill for Stern, Trump deadpanned: "You know when he went down? When he endorsed Hillary Clinton. People said, 'get me a break'. He went down when he endorsed Hillary Clinton."
Clinton, of course, was Trump's 2016 opponent, and Stern also had the chance to interview Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris last year.
Meanwhile, Frank is blaming Stern's current COO Marci Turk for "drastically turn[ing] him into what he is right now." But SiriusXM president/CCO Scott Greenstein insists that Howard's exit will be up to him alone.
"He's been with me and the company going on two decades, and so he's pretty happy," Greenstein said. "But he's also able, like many great artists, to stop whenever he wants."
On a more personal note, Stern is celebrating 17 years of marriage with second wife Beth Ostrosky Stern next week, and the couple will be marking their union on October 3.
As for his family life, Stern has three daughters from his first marriage - Emily, 42; Debra, 39; and Ashley, 32 - and three grandkids to boot. The Private Parts author's legacy is at a crossroads, but one thing's for sure: this drama-filled saga is far from over.
