The cat's out of the bag, folks! Just days after the shocking engagement announcement between NFL star Travis Kelce and global superstar Taylor Swift, the elder Kelce has finally broken his silence to dish all about their romantic whirlwind. And trust us, it's a juicy tale!

As reported on thescholarlynote.com earlier this week, Travis proposed to Taylor in a stunning garden setting in Lee's Summit, Missouri (yes, the same hometown of NFL quarterback Drew Lock!). But what's not been shared until now is that Travis had initially planned to wait even longer to pop the question, hoping to make it an epic gesture.

However, according to Ed Kelce, his son was getting a little "antsy" - or rather, Taylor was! The 14-time Grammy winner (yes, we know, we're counting too) just couldn't resist showing off her bling on social media. Poor Travis was eager to give her the ring, and it seems his dad's words of wisdom were all it took for him to finally propose.

"I told him repeatedly, 'You could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event... when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you,'" Ed dished in an exclusive interview with Cleveland TV station WEWS. And we have to say, he's not wrong! Who needs grand gestures when love is at its purest?

But what about the proposal itself? Well, it seems Taylor was just as swept off her feet by Travis' romantic gesture. "He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, 'Let's go out and have a glass of wine,'" Ed shared. And that's when the magic happened!

The special moment was captured on FaceTime with none other than Ed himself (and his family) - who just so happened to be visiting the Philadelphia Eagles practice, where his son Jason is an NFL legend. Talk about multi-tasking! "I was at... an Eagles practice, a public practice that they had a lot of people that, well, the Eagles had 60,000 people at a public practice two weeks ago on a Sunday night," Ed explained.

As for Travis' plans to propose, it seems his dad was in the know all along. "We actually went to a thing in KC Sunday night, which was an ESPN airing of 'The Kingdom' and went to that, and his mother and I went with him back to his house for dinner, where Taylor made dinner," Ed shared. And let's just say it was a dinner party for the ages! "To just watch the two of them, just crazy about each other... It's truly kinda neat," he gushed.

But what about the wedding plans? Well, it seems they're taking their sweet time - or rather, they haven't had much time at all since getting engaged. According to Ed, there are no concrete plans in place... yet! "They're just two young people very much in love, cast in a spotlight that they really haven't sought but kind of followed with their success in their respective fields," he said.

And speaking of love and loss, our hearts go out to Ed Kelce, who recently lost his girlfriend Maureen Maguire (yes, we know, we're still getting used to calling her "his girlfriend" too!) on August 1 at the age of 74. May she rest in peace.

The engagement news comes just nine days before Travis and Taylor's highly anticipated nuptials... or should we say, not-so-nuptials? The couple has yet to share any concrete plans for their big day, but we have a feeling it'll be nothing short of spectacular!
