Hollywood Stars Left in Shock: Italian Reporter Under Fire for Black Lives Matter Question

A chat on Italian TV with Andrew Garfield, Julia Roberts and Ayo Edebiri has gone viral after the interviewer failed to address Edebiri on a number of topical questions

STARS SPEAK OUT AGAINST RACISM IN SHOCKING TV INTERVIEW

In a jaw-dropping moment of journalistic faux pas, Italian journalist Federica Polidoro has been called out for her blatant racism and ignorance in an interview with Hollywood A-listers Ayo Edebiri, Julia Roberts, and Andrew Garfield. The tense exchange left viewers gasping as Polidoro repeatedly excluded Edebiri from responding to questions on the Black Lives Matter movement and #MeToo.

The drama unfolded during a segment of Italy's ArtsLife TV hosted by Polidoro, where she invited the three celebrities to discuss their latest projects. However, it quickly became apparent that Polidoro had an agenda - or rather, an utter disregard for Edebiri's opinions and experiences as a Black woman in Hollywood.

Italian journalist Federica Polidoro has issued a brash response following a controversial interview

As the conversation turned to the pressing topics of social justice, Polidoro seemed to conveniently "forget" about Edebiri, instead focusing on Roberts and Garfield. The glaring omission was met with collective eye-rolling from the audience, who were left wondering if Polidoro was simply too obtuse or deliberately trying to silence Edebiri.

But that wasn't all - Polidoro's behavior sparked a heated debate among viewers, with many taking to social media to express their outrage and disgust. "Why would you ask a man about #MeToo but exclude a woman?" one user fumed on the Reddit thread r/FauxMoi. "WHY would you ask Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield about BlackLivesMatter but exclude Ayo Edebiri????"

As the backlash continued to grow, Polidoro took to Instagram to defend herself against allegations of racism. In a lengthy post, she claimed that she had been subjected to "personal insults and attacks" from those who deemed her questioning methods unacceptable.

As the clip went viral and responses flooded in, many people took the journalist to task for the way she conducted the group interview

"I find it striking that those who unjustly accuse me of racism...find acceptable violent language, personal attacks, and cyberbullying," Polidoro wrote, attempting to deflect attention away from her own behavior. "I would like to clarify that, rather than focusing on the thoughtful responses of Ayo Edebiri, Julia Roberts, and Andrew Garfield, the discussion continues solely on how I should have phrased the question."

But fans of Edebiri were not having it, with many calling out Polidoro for her blatant disregard for the Black Lives Matter movement. "Ayo knew," one user wrote on Reddit. "She couldn’t wait to jump in when she saw she was being purposefully excluded. She still had so much grace in the face of that but didn't allow her voice to be silenced. Love her."

The drama has sparked a wider conversation about racism and representation in journalism, with many calling for greater accountability from interviewers and media outlets.

Edebiri eventually answered one of the questions despite being ignored by the interviewer

Meanwhile, Polidoro has doubled down on her defense, claiming that she is not racist and pointing out her own multicultural background as evidence. "To those who unjustly accuse me of racism, I would like to clarify that in my work I have interviewed people of every background and ethnicity," she wrote. "And my own family is multi-ethnic, matriarchal, and feminist, with a significant history of immigration."

But Edebiri's fans are not buying it - and neither should the rest of us.

UPDATE: Polidoro has since removed her Instagram post, but the damage has been done. As one user so aptly put it: "The real racists are those who see racism everywhere and seek to muzzle journalism, limiting freedom of analysis, critical thinking, and the plurality of perspectives." The truth is clear - Polidoro's behavior was nothing short of racist, and we won't let her get away with it.
