Heatwave Havoc: Fans Ill as Rachel Zegler Shines Outside the Palladium
EVITA'S HOT HOT HOT!
Rachel Zegler's West End performance of Evita has sparked a heatwave of controversy after "multiple people fell ill" attempting to catch a glimpse of the star during the sweltering heat!
The 24-year-old actress, who plays former First Lady of Argentina Eva Peron in the iconic musical, left fans fuming when she belted out Don't Cry For Me Argentina on the balcony of the London Palladium - right outside the venue where tickets holders were waiting to see her perform inside!
But things took a turn for the worse as an estimated 200 people gathered outside for hours, hoping to catch a glimpse of Rachel's performance. And it wasn't just the heat that was getting out of control... The crowd control was "bad enough" on the public street, but with the blistering temperatures, it was turning into a full-blown disaster!
A source close to the venue told The Scholarly Note: "It's turning into a nightmare! People are getting heatstroke, others are struggling to breathe... It's becoming really dangerous out there. Ambulances were parked outside for almost an hour before racing to the hospital just minutes before Rachel appeared!"
And it seems like the drama didn't stop there... Furious fans took to social media to express their frustration that they wouldn't get to see Don't Cry For Me Argentina on stage, despite shelling out big bucks for tickets!
One disgruntled theatre-goer wrote: "Are you kidding me?! I've paid £350 for two tickets and she's singing the biggest number outside at people who haven't paid?!"
Another fan fumed: "I go to the theatre to share the same space with a performer! It's not about watching them from afar... it's about being part of the experience!"
But not everyone was having a bad day... Abi, a 21-year-old student from London, defended the unconventional performance, saying: "I think it's making theatre more accessible. It's actually adding to the ambience of the show. The speech she does at the end of the song hits completely different seeing it outside. It adds so much more to her performance to see her do it to the people!"
So, was Rachel's impromptu balcony performance a stroke of genius or a recipe for disaster? Only time (and the theatre critics) will tell!
