Guess Who? Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Sweet Childhood Throwback!

This British singer took to her Instagram on Thursday to share a sweet childhood throwback snap - but can you guess who she is?

SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR UNVEILS CHILDHOOD THROWBACK AND WE CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF HER DISCO-TINGED MEMORIES!

The beloved British pop sensation, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, has been making waves in the music industry for over two decades. From her early days as the lead vocalist of indie band Theaudience to becoming a solo superstar, Sophie's career is filled with hits, heartbreaks, and comebacks.

Last Thursday, the 46-year-old songstress took to Instagram to share an adorable childhood throwback snap that has left fans swooning. In the photo, Sophie can be seen lounging on her armchair in her living room, looking like a totally different person from the pop icon we know today. Her short black locks and blue satin pyjamas are an ode to her carefree youth.

It's none other than Sophie Ellis-Bextor! The British pop sensation first made waves as the lead vocalist of indie band Theaudience before going solo in the early 2000s (pictured 1998)

The caption accompanying the post read: 'Someone tell this girl she might be about to have her sixth top 10 album (love heart emoji)' - hinting at Sophie's incredible success in the music industry, which is still going strong after two decades. We can't help but wonder what the future holds for this talented artist!

Sophie Ellis-Bextor's rise to fame began in the late 90s as the lead vocalist of indie band Theaudience. However, it was her debut solo album, Read My Lips (2001), that catapulted her to stardom. This iconic record peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and went double platinum, selling over 1.5 million copies worldwide.

The album spawned a string of hits, including 'Take Me Home', 'Murder on the Dancefloor', and 'Get Over You'. But it was 'Murder on the Dancefloor' that cemented Sophie's status as a pop sensation, becoming one of her signature songs.

Since then, she's racked up eight UK Top 10 singles and five UK Top 10 albums, thanks to her signature blend of disco, pop and electronic sounds (pictured last year)

However, after the success of Read My Lips, Sophie took a hiatus from music. She returned in 2003 with Shoot from the Hip, which reached number 19 and featured Top 10 hits 'Mixed Up World' and 'I Won't Change You'. Although not as successful as her debut album, Shoot from the Hip still showed Sophie's incredible talent for crafting catchy pop hooks.

After a four-year hiatus, Sophie released Trip the Light Fantastic in 2007, which hit number seven on the UK Albums Chart. But it was her 2011 album Make a Scene that delivered the Top 40 single 'Bittersweet'.

Fast forward to 2023, and Sophie's music found a whole new audience when 'Murder on the Dancefloor' was famously featured in the iconic final scene of Emerald Fennell's psychological drama Saltburn. The unforgettable moment saw actor Barry Keoghan dancing in the buff to Sophie's 2001 hit - and sent the song soaring back into the charts more than two decades after its original release.

Reacting to the surprise success, Sophie wrote on X (formerly Twitter): 'Wow…thank you for all the Murder love. Happy new year! Xx' It seems that Sophie's music still has a lot of life left in it!

TheScholarlyNote.com has learned that Saltburn, which stars Barry alongside Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, and Richard E. Grant, premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in August 2023 before hitting UK cinemas that November. The film received widespread acclaim and picked up two Golden Globe nominations and five BAFTA nods.

Sophie's music may have been resurrected by Saltburn, but it seems that her career is far from over. With a new album on the horizon (or so she hints in her Instagram post!), fans can't wait to see what Sophie has in store for us next.
