Gerard Butler's Emotional Tribute to Beloved Mother Margaret

In a heartwarming and emotional moment, Scottish actor Gerard Butler, 55, paid tribute to his late mother Margaret on Magic Radio yesterday. The Scholly Note has learned that Butler's eyes welled up with tears as he spoke about the passing of his mother, who sadly left us at the age of 81 earlier this year.

Butler, known for his roles in films like "How to Train Your Dragon" and "300," revealed that director Dean DeBlois had dedicated the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular franchise to Margaret. The actor's eyes misted over as he recalled how he knew his mother wouldn't be able to see the finished film.

"It was a feeling I had, but I didn't want to accept it," Butler said, his voice trembling with emotion. "So Dean very kindly dedicated the movie to her."

Butler's tribute to his mother came as he promoted the highly anticipated film, which hits theaters this Friday. The actor, who stars as Stoick the Vast in the movie, spoke fondly of Margaret, describing her as an "amazing woman" who was strong, fiery, and beautiful.

"It would have been incredible if the whole world could have met my Mum," Butler said wistfully. "She was a really special woman."

The Scholly Note has learned that Butler's mother was instrumental in his decision to pursue an acting career from a young age. He revealed that she knew he wanted to be an actor even as a child and encouraged him to chase his dreams.

"It's this movie, it really is," Butler said of "How to Train Your Dragon." "It's the opposite of what I was doing before. I was doing something that I never really loved, never cared about, and didn't show any of my uniqueness in any way to be honest."

Butler frequently visited his mother at her home in Comrie, Perthshire, where she lived for over 20 years. He previously told The Record that he would always return to Scotland to catch up with her, joking that she would "slap the Hollywood out of him" whenever he got too big for his britches.

"I sit in the garden, I look up at the mountain ranges, and I am just taken aback constantly by how beautiful it is there," Butler said. "And what a great land I come from."

Butler's love for Scotland was evident as he spoke about recharging his batteries after a long time in Hollywood.

"I quickly get that slapped out of me," he joked.

The Scholly Note has also learned that the film paid tribute to Margaret during its Brazilian premiere last month, dedicating the movie to her loving memory. The credits read: "Dedicated to the loving memory of Margaret Coll."

Butler posted pictures from the premiere on Instagram, including a caption that read: "Getting weird. Funny face. The boys. And in memory of my dearly beloved mother Margaret Coll."
