Gene Simmons Hospitalized After Malibu Car Crash: Rock Legend Recovers at Home
KISS ROCKER GENE SIMMONS CRASHES HIS CAR AND TELLS THE WORLD IT'S JUST A MINOR SETBACK!
The iconic lead singer of KISS, Gene Simmons, is back on his feet after a terrifying car crash in Malibu earlier this week. The 76-year-old rock legend was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries, but thankfully he's now recovering at home with his wife, Shannon Tweed.
According to sources close to the family, Simmons had passed out or fainted behind the wheel of his Lincoln Navigator before crashing into a parked car on Pacific Coast Highway. His wife revealed that he was dehydrated from recent medication changes and hadn't been drinking enough water - something he's not exactly fond of doing.
A HISTORY OF HEALTH ISSUES
This isn't the first time Simmons has faced health issues related to dehydration. In 2023, he suffered from dehydration during a KISS concert in Manaus, Brazil, forcing the band to pause the show while he recovered. After drinking some water, Simmons was back on stage within minutes and finished the show.
It's no secret that Simmons suffers from atrial fibrillation (AFib), a heart condition that affects his heartbeat. He's been open about managing it with rest and liquids, but revealed in an interview with The Doctors in 2016 that he first learned of the condition after experiencing symptoms on stage during a tour performance.
A LIFE ON THE ROAD
As a co-founder of KISS, Simmons has spent decades touring with his iconic bandmates. Even though KISS retired from touring two years ago, Simmons is still rocking out - albeit with his own group, Gene Simmons Band. His latest tour stop was in Sturgis, South Dakota on August 3.
But don't worry, die-hard KISS fans! Simmons has a surprise performance lined up next month with fellow bandmates Paul Stanley and Tommy Thayer as part of the Kiss Kruise in Las Vegas. And, rumor has it, he'll be joining them for a special "unmasked" show.
A QUESTIONABLE FAN ASSISTANT EXPERIENCE
In other news, Simmons recently came under fire for charging $12,495 to one lucky fan to be their personal assistant for the day. When questioned by the New York Post about the high price tag, Simmons defended his decision, saying: "When I was a kid and went to see shows, I always wondered what it would be like to be behind the scenes... Now I'm offering that experience to someone."
Only time will tell if this unique experience is a hit with fans. But one thing's for sure - Gene Simmons is still living life on his own terms and rocking out whenever he wants.
