Gabrielle Union Spills on Her "Stupid" First Purchase After Cashing in on Bring It On Success

In a revealing appearance at the American Black Film Festival in Miami, Gabrielle Union, the 52-year-old Hollywood superstar, dished out some juicy details about her early days of fame. And let's just say, she made a purchase that left her dad scratching his head!

During a panel discussion titled Sisterhood & Savings: A Conversation with Gabrielle Union, the Bring It On alumna opened up about her impulsive decision to buy a brand new Mazda Miata with leather seats after cashing in on her big paycheck from the 2000 cult classic.

The 52-year-old actress, who rose to fame after starring in the cult classic cheerleading comedy in 2000, opened up about what she regretted doing when she 'made it' in Hollywood

"I went on the Mazda lot, and I'm like, 'Oh, I've made it when I have a Mazda,'" Union confessed, laughing at her own foolishness. "My dad's like, 'Don't buy a brand new car. It depreciates the second you drive it off the lot.'"

But Gabrielle didn't listen. She splurged on that sleek black Miata with leather seats, only to discover that they scorch her skin every time she got out of the car! Talk about a regretful purchase!

This isn't the first time Union has shared details about her financial journey. In the past, she and her husband, retired NBA star Dwyane Wade, have been open about their money management strategies.

While making an appearance at the American Black Film Festival in Miami on Thursday, June 12, she recalled her spontaneous purchase during a panel discussion

The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, revealed that they split their bills evenly, even after getting married. Wade also spilled the tea on their prenuptial agreement, stating that they signed one to protect each other's best interests.

Gabrielle Union's journey to stardom began in the 1990s with various sitcom appearances. Her breakthrough role came in 2000 when she starred opposite Kirsten Dunst in Bring It On, which became a surprise hit and spawned five direct-to-video sequels and a television movie sequel.

Fast-forward to today, and Union is set to reprise her role alongside Kirsten Dunst for an upcoming sequel. In March, she teased the project during an appearance on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, revealing that neither of her kids – 17-year-old Zaya nor six-year-old Kaavia – enjoys the original film.

She said that over two decades ago, she made a 'stupid' car purchase with her first big paycheck even against the advice of her father

Union's comments about revisiting the original came after she opened up about husband Dwyane Wade's cancer diagnosis. When asked by a fan when was the last time she saw Kirsten Dunst, Union spilled that they've been working on something together, with their kids attending school in the same area.

TheScholarlyNote.com has been following Gabrielle Union's career closely, and it seems like we can expect even more exciting projects from this talented actress. Stay tuned for more updates on her upcoming sequel and other endeavors!
