From Teen Wolf to Lifelong Friendship: Michael J. Fox, Nancy McKeon, and Doug Savant's Unexpected Bond
TEEN WOLF TAILS: MICHAEL J. FOX'S WEREWOLFY GOOD TIMES WITH DOUG SAVANT EXPOSED!
In a shocking revelation, veteran actor Doug Savant spilled the beans on his long-standing friendship with the one and only Michael J. Fox in an exclusive chat with The Scholarly Note.com at Lifetime's Summer Soirée event, held at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel July 16.
As it turns out, Savant, 61, and Fox, 64, have been thick as thieves for decades, thanks to their shared connection through none other than Nancy McKeon, star of the iconic sitcom The Facts of Life. Yes, you read that right - the same Nancy McKeon who dated Michael J. Fox back in the mid-1980s!
Savant and Fox first crossed paths on the set of Teen Wolf, the 1985 comedy classic that launched a thousand werewolf-themed memes. In the film, Savant played Brad, the lovable classmate and basketball teammate of Fox's lead character, Scott Howard - aka the Teen Wolf himself.
But what most people don't know is that Savant and Fox didn't exactly start off on the right foot. According to Savant, he kept his connection to McKeon a secret from Fox for fear of disturbing the actor's focus on set.
"I just wanted to do my job and be professional," Savant revealed in the exclusive interview. "But I had not said anything [about knowing Nancy]. And then one day, Michael comes to work and says, 'Why didn't you tell me that?' He was upset with me that I hadn't told him."
Fast forward a week, and Fox had apparently done some digging of his own. It seems he confronted Savant about their shared connection to McKeon, leading to a heart-to-heart chat between the two actors.
"After that, we formed a fast friendship," Savant gushed. "I had a great time working with Michael on Teen Wolf."
And it's clear that those good vibes have stuck around - even all these years later. In fact, Savant confessed that watching Teen Wolf on set while working on another project recently brought back a flood of nostalgic memories.
"The craft service person would play movies, and he puts on Teen Wolf," Savant recalled. "And there I was doing my job on a new show, but watching Teen Wolf in the craft service trailer."
Meanwhile, Fox has been keeping busy with his own projects - not to mention his tireless efforts to raise awareness about Parkinson's disease, which he was diagnosed with back in 1991 at the tender age of 29. Since going public with his diagnosis in 1998, Fox has dedicated himself to fundraising and advocating for a cure.
And speaking of love and relationships, Fox met his wife Tracy Pollan on the set of Family Ties back in the '80s. The two started dating after working together again on the 1988 film Bright Lights, Big City - and got hitched just one year later.
Together, they've built a loving family with four beautiful adult children: Sam Michael (36), twin daughters Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances (30), and daughter Esmé Annabelle (23).
So there you have it, folks! Michael J. Fox's werewolfy good times with Doug Savant - the ultimate friendship that's stood the test of time.
