From Soap Opera Heartthrob to Love Story: Patrick Duffy's Unexpected Romance
TELEVISION HEARTTHROB PATRICK DUFFY SHOCKS FANS WITH ROMANCE RENEWED AT 76!
In a stunning turn of events, Dallas legend Patrick Duffy has fallen head over heels in love again at the ripe age of 76. The dashing actor, best known for his iconic role as Bobby Ewing on the hit nighttime soap opera, has been spotted with his new flame Linda Purl in Cincinnati, where he was promoting his brand Duffy's Dough.
But what makes this romance even more remarkable is that it blossomed during the COVID-19 pandemic! Patrick and Linda met on a group text chat in July 2020, and their whirlwind romance took off from there. They spent hours every night talking on Facetime and Zoom, getting to know each other like never before.
"We didn't sit in the same room for almost four months, but we spoke to each other every day," Patrick gushed about their unlikely love story. "We kept texting, and then Facetime became a thing, and for two and a half months plus, we Zoomed every night for two or three hours!" he exclaimed.
But it wasn't until they finally met in person that the sparks really flew. Patrick revealed that he drove 23 hours to reach Linda's doorstep, where they shared their first kiss. "It was like... 'hi'," Patrick recalled with a smile. "I got into my car and drove 23 hours to her doorstep, and we've never been apart since."
Linda Purl, who is best known for her role as Ashley Pfister on Happy Days in the early 1980s, couldn't be more smitten either. "As we were about to do the end meeting, Patrick says 'see you tomorrow love you'," she gushed. "The next day, we Zoomed it was like... 'hi'. I got into my car and drove 23 hours to her doorstep, and we've never been apart."
Their romance has been a long time coming for Patrick, who had all but given up on dating after the loss of his wife, ballet dancer Carlyn Rosser, in 2017. The couple was married for over four decades and had two sons: Padraic, 48, and Conor, 42.
"I wasn't looking for it," Patrick confessed about their love story. "I didn't feel I needed it... and then fate just went swoosh! and changed the perspective." He continued, "We started texting and then FaceTiming, and then Zooming... We did a two-to-three-hour Zoom every single night... You get to know somebody really well when you do that."
Patrick's romance with Linda has been nothing short of magical. The couple has been inseparable since their first meeting, and it's clear that they're head over heels in love.
But what makes this romance even more fascinating is the fact that Patrick has found love again after a long time of being single. "I never thought for a minute this would happen again," he admitted about his feelings for Linda. "I never thought I'd feel this way again. I'm in an incredibly happy relationship."
As for Linda, she's thrilled to have found love with the dashing actor. "I don't think it would have happened otherwise because in our normal lives pre-pandemic we wouldn't have had three hours to Zoom but we did," she gushed about their whirlwind romance.
In a nod to their blossoming relationship, Patrick even cast Linda in his upcoming project, The Bold and the Beautiful. She played the role of his love interest, cementing her place as the new leading lady in his life.
Patrick's romantic history is nothing short of impressive. In addition to his long-term marriage to Carlyn Rosser, he has also appeared in films like You Again (2010) and Lady of the Manor (2021). But it's clear that his romance with Linda Purl is one for the ages.
As the two continue to navigate their whirlwind romance, fans can't help but wonder what the future holds for this star-crossed couple. Will they tie the knot again? Only time will tell!
