From Bewitched to Reality TV: Erin Murphy's Magical Journey
Bewitched Beauty Erin Murphy Spills the Tea: Her Favorite Darrin Revealed!
Get ready for a blast from the past, folks! The lovely Erin Murphy, 61, is still bewitching us with her charm and wit. As one of the last surviving original cast members of the iconic TV series "Bewitched," Erin has been keeping busy behind the scenes – but now she's dishing out all the juicy gossip!
As many of you may remember, Erin played the adorable Tabitha, Samantha's (Elizabeth Montgomery) magical daughter, alongside her twin sister Diane. But did you know that Erin was just two years old when she started playing the role? Talk about a breakout performance! As Tabitha, Erin captured the hearts of millions with her twinkle in her eye and those gorgeous blonde locks.
Fast-forward to the present, and Erin is still as charming as ever. In a rare interview with The Scholarly Note (formerly known as People), Erin finally settled the age-old debate: which Darrin was better – Dick York or Dick Sargent? Drumroll, please... Erin has chosen Dick York as her favorite Darrin!
"I will give you a scoop," Erin shared with us. "My entire life I have been so diplomatic because I loved them both. They were wonderful guys. Watching the show, Dick York is a better Darrin." It's no surprise that Erin would choose Dick York, given their close bond on and off screen. Dick York embodied Darrin from 1964 until his departure in 1969 due to a serious back injury.
But what about Dick Sargent? Don't worry, Erin has kind words for him too! "So he was more like a dad. Dick Sargent was a great guy, and we stayed in touch until he passed away. But I'm going with Dick York on this one." Ah, the nostalgia is killing us!
As if Erin's confession wasn't enough, she also dished about her childhood experiences on set. "It's so interesting because I grew up on the show, so it's the only childhood I know, but I feel lucky," she said. And lucky she was! With a cast of lovable characters, including Elizabeth Montgomery and Agnes Moorehead, Erin must have felt like part of one big happy family.
Speaking of Agnes Moorehead, Erin had nothing but praise for her "favorite" co-star. "And her favorite color was purple and everything in her dressing room was purple." We can only imagine the fabulousness that ensued on set!
After Bewitched wrapped up in 1972, Erin took a step back from the spotlight – but reruns kept her a familiar face for viewers. And who could forget that short-lived spin-off series, Tabitha, which featured Lisa Hartman as an adult Tabitha?
Nowadays, Erin has explored various roles behind the camera, serving as a casting director, makeup artist, stylist, acting teacher, and even stunt double! Talk about a triple threat! With her extensive experience in the industry, it's no wonder she's still re-entering the entertainment world – this time as a TV presenter for networks like Fox Reality Channel and E!.
And did you know that Erin has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood? She's collaborated with Hulk Hogan, Bob Saget, Danny Bonaduce, and RuPaul, to name a few! That's what we call a A-list connection!
As we look back on Erin Murphy's impressive career, it's clear that she's still as magical as ever. So here's to our beloved Tabitha – may her witchy ways continue to captivate us for years to come!
