Erin Andrews Opens Up: Cancer, Infertility, and Finding Hope

Erin Andrews candidly opened up about her struggles with cancer and infertility

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

NFL Sideline Reporter Erin Andrews Spills the Tea on Her Cancer Battle, Infertility Struggles, and a High-Profile $55 Million Court Showdown with a Stalker!

Erin Andrews, the 47-year-old Fox Sports star, has been in the news lately for her high-profile career and personal struggles. But what you may not know is that she's been through a whirlwind of emotions - from battling cervical cancer to facing infertility issues and a dramatic $55 million court battle with a stalker.

Andrews and her husband, former NHL star Jarret Stoll, endured a years-long IVF battle

In an exclusive interview with People, Andrews opens up about her journey, revealing the key to navigating life's highs and lows: communication and honesty. "When I was dealing with cancer," she shares, "I talk to people. I talk to my family [and] use them as a resource. I talk to doctors... It's so important to get as much information as possible than to do it all by yourself."

Andrews' health battles began in 2016 when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Initially keeping her diagnosis under wraps, the brave reporter underwent two surgeries before being declared cancer-free that December. But little did she know that this was just the beginning of her challenges.

As she continued to work on the sidelines, covering high-profile events like Super Bowls and World Series games for Fox Sports (since 2012), Andrews began her decade-long journey with IVF. The results were heartbreaking - seven failed rounds and a devastating pregnancy loss left her feeling defeated.

The couple welcomed their two-year-old son Mack in 2023 via surrogacy

"We tried everything," she admits. "We thought we'd done it all, but it just didn't work out." It wasn't until she decided to use a surrogate for their final egg that they welcomed baby boy Mack in 2023. The joy was short-lived, however, as Andrews and her husband Jarret Stoll (a two-time Stanley Cup winner) suffered another miscarriage through surrogacy earlier this year.

The couple is now considering trying again, but the heartbreak has left them feeling drained. "It's really hard to stay up," Andrews confesses. "I mean, we're talking about trying this all over again, and I am literally thinking to myself, 'Ugh, I don't want to do this all over again. I don't want to deal with heartbreak.'"

Andrews urges women and couples in similar situations to seek answers and explore the options available to them - whether it be IVF or adoption.

But what about the $55 million court showdown with her stalker? In 2008, a man was convicted of secretly filming Andrews through her hotel room peephole. The harrowing experience left her shaken, but she's since spoken out against stalking and supported victims' rights.

When asked how she manages to balance her high-pressure job with personal struggles, Andrews offers sage advice: "It's not about being strong; it's about being honest." She encourages others to talk openly about their feelings and seek help when needed. As for her own journey, Andrews says, "I've learned that I'm not alone in this... It's okay to be vulnerable."

With a new NFL season underway, Andrews will be back on the sidelines with Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady, ready to tackle whatever comes next.

AND NOW FOR THE TEA

Erin Andrews has been open about her struggles with infertility, but what you might not know is that she initially kept her cancer diagnosis under wraps. The 47-year-old Fox Sports star was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016 and underwent two surgeries before being declared cancer-free that December.

But Andrews didn't stop there. She continued to work on the sidelines, covering high-profile events like Super Bowls and World Series games for Fox Sports (since 2012). Her dedication to her job is admirable, but it's clear she faced immense pressure in the male-dominated industry.

Andrews has been candid about her struggles with IVF, admitting that the process was "10 years of hell." The couple tried everything - from medication to egg freezing - but ultimately decided to use a surrogate for their final egg. In 2023, they welcomed baby boy Mack, and although it was a joyous moment, Andrews has been open about the heartbreak she experienced along the way.

In May, Andrews announced that she and Stoll had suffered another miscarriage through surrogacy. The news was devastating, but she's since spoken out about the importance of seeking help and exploring options when dealing with infertility.

Andrews' bravery extends beyond her personal struggles, however. In 2008, a man was convicted of secretly filming Andrews through her hotel room peephole. The harrowing experience left her shaken, but she's since spoken out against stalking and supported victims' rights.
