In a rare sighting, Eric was seen stepping out of a vehicle, accompanied by an unknown female companion, on Monday afternoon. The dashing actor appeared to be in high spirits, dressed in a navy blue polo shirt, grey plaid shorts, and bold red Adidas soccer shoes.

For those who may not know, Eric's diagnosis with ALS came as a surprise when he announced it back in April. The actor revealed that he had been experiencing symptoms since 2024, but it wasn't until this year that the disease took a toll on his physical abilities.

In an emotional interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, Eric opened up about his struggles and the devastating impact ALS has had on his life. He shared that he's lost control of his right side, including his dominant hand, and is now fighting to save his left arm from deterioration.

"I have one functioning arm. My left side is functioning. My right side, [which is my dominant side], has completely stopped working," Eric revealed in the heart-wrenching interview. "My left arm is going. I feel like maybe a couple, a few more months and I won't have my left hand either. Sobering. I'm worried about my legs."

Eric's diagnosis came after he noticed weakness in his right hand over a year ago. Initially, he thought it might be due to excessive texting or fatigue, but further medical evaluation led him to the shocking diagnosis.

This news comes as a surprise to many, especially given Eric's recent divorce drama with wife Rebecca Gayheart. The couple had been estranged for seven years before announcing their separation in 2020. However, in March of this year, Gayheart withdrew her divorce petition, paving the way for the two to reconcile and prioritize their family.

In a rare display of vulnerability, Eric revealed that his wife has become his rock during this challenging time. "She is probably my biggest champion and my most stalwart supporter. And I lean on her," he said in the interview.

But what's even more astonishing is Eric's candid account of how ALS has affected his daily life. He shared a harrowing story about how his 13-year-old daughter Georgia had to save his life during a boat trip. "I was, like, breaking down in tears. So I made sure [Georgia] got back in the water with her friend and continued on with the snorkeling excursion with the guide," Eric recalled.
