Emma Watson Longs for Acting, But Not the Pressure of Selling Movies

Emma Watson has admitted she 'misses' acting nearly seven years on from her final appearance on the big screen (pictured in 2023)

SPOTTED! Emma Watson Spills on Her Secret Passion and Shocking Speed Bump

In a candid interview, actress Emma Watson, 35, has revealed that she's been pining for the spotlight – nearly seven years after her last big-screen appearance. The beloved Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series might be taking a backseat, but it seems she's not getting over the loss of her silver screen alter ego just yet.

Watson's comments come as a surprise to fans who have been keeping up with her post-Potter life. After gracing the big screen in all eight movies alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint from 2001 until the final Deathly Hallows chapter in 2011, Watson stepped away from acting in 2018.

The actress, 35, is best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint

However, it's not the fame or fortune that's got her itching to return to the world of cinema. Speaking to Hollywood Authentic, Watson let slip that she doesn't miss "selling" movies – a process she described as "soul-destroying." Instead, she's yearning for something much more meaningful: using her skill set and immersing herself in the art.

"I think I'll be honest and straightforward," Watson explained. "I do not miss selling things. I found that to be quite soul-destroying. But I do very much miss using my skill set, and I very much miss the art. I just found I got to do so little of the bit that I actually enjoyed."

It seems Watson's passion for acting hasn't faded with time. She shared a poignant moment about the transformative power of being on a film set: "The moment you get on a film set, you don't get very long for rehearsal. But the moment you get to talk through a scene – or I got to prepare and think about how I wanted to do something – and then the minute the camera rolls, and getting to just completely forget about everything else in the world other than that one moment – it's such an intense form of meditation."

Emma has not acted in a film since 2018, with the star now revealing how she doesn't miss 'selling' her movies which she said was 'soul-destroying'

Watson's description paints a vivid picture of the elation she felt while working on set. She emphasized that this feeling is not to be found elsewhere: "It’s so freeing. I miss that profoundly. But I don’t miss the pressure. I forgot it was a lot of pressure."

As Watson navigates her life beyond Hollywood, fans can't help but wonder what's next for the beloved actress. The last time we saw her on screen was in Greta Gerwig's 2019 adaptation of Little Women – a critically acclaimed period drama that showcased her impressive range.

But away from the spotlight, Watson has been keeping busy. She enrolled at Oxford University to study Creative Writing, no doubt sharpening her skills and sparking creative ideas for future projects.

Watson's love life has also made headlines recently. After an 18-month romance with Brandon Green – son of former British Home Stores tycoon Sir Philip Green – ended last year, she was spotted enjoying a romantic picnic date with a mystery man in Oxford. The new beau might be the perfect distraction from her acting hiatus.

However, Watson's personal life hasn't been without controversy. Just last month, she was banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding in an Audi worth £30,000. She pleaded guilty to driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone and received three points on her license, adding to the nine points she accumulated in October, November, and January.

At High Wycombe Magistrates' Court, Watson was sentenced to pay £1,044 in fines – including a £660 fine for her guilty plea, a £264 surcharge, and £120 cost. As it turns out, Watson might need to brush up on her driving skills before getting behind the wheel again.

Despite this setback, fans remain hopeful that Emma Watson will soon return to the big screen, armed with a newfound passion and creativity. Until then, we can only speculate about what she's working on next – but one thing's for sure: when she does come back, it'll be worth the wait.
