Emily Blunt's Stunning Transformation: Devil Wears Prada Sequel Brings Bold New Look

Emily Blunt surfaced on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2 this week with a hairdo totally unrecognizable to fans of the original 2002 film

The Devil Wears Prada 2: Emily Blunt's Jaw-Dropping Transformation and a Scandalous Sequel

It's been over two decades since Meryl Streep donned the iconic red stilettos of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, but the fashion world is about to get a major facelift with the sequel. Emily Blunt, who brought the character of Emily Charlton to life on the big screen, has undergone a drastic transformation for the new film, leaving fans speechless.

This week, Emily was spotted on set in New York, and it's safe to say that she looks nothing like her former self. Gone are the signature copper red locks that framed her perpetually severe expression; instead, she's rocking a stunning ash blonde look that's sure to turn heads. The actress was previously seen with this new 'do on set, but we can only imagine what the real reason behind this drastic change is – could it be a nod to her character's evolution or simply a personal preference?

According to sources close to the production, Emily's character will indeed undergo a makeover during the course of the sequel. But don't expect just any ordinary transformation; rumor has it that she'll be trading in her chic, harried senior assistant persona for something entirely new.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to bring back many of the original cast members, including Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly and Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs. Stanley Tucci will also reprise his role as Nigel Kipling, the waspish art director at Runway magazine. But what's really exciting is the introduction of new characters – Kenneth Branagh takes on the role of Miranda's new husband, while Australian heartthrob Patrick Brammall plays Andy's latest love interest.

The plot for the sequel promises to be just as dramatic and intriguing as the original. According to Variety, Miranda is struggling to keep Runway afloat in an increasingly digital world. She wants to make a deal with a luxury ad firm, but things take a turn when she discovers that Emily – who's now an executive at the company – has other plans.

Viewers of the original movie will remember Emily's trademark copper red hair, which elegantly framed her perpetually severe expression

It's not just the characters and plotlines that are getting a makeover; behind-the-scenes, there's been some juicy gossip circulating about the real-life inspiration for the film. Lauren Weisberger, the author of the novel on which the original movie was based, wrote a sequel called Revenge Wears Prada, but the reported plot of The Devil Wears Prada 2 is entirely different.

When the first book was published in 2003, it caused quite a stir – particularly since many readers speculated that Lauren had written about her former boss, Anna Wintour. At the time, Anna remained tight-lipped about the novel, breezily remarking to the New York Times that she was "looking forward to reading the book."

But according to Jerry Oppenheimer's unauthorized biography of Anna Wintour, the Vogue editor-in-chief was actually seething with anger behind the scenes. One of her subordinates claimed that Anna felt "used and abused" by Lauren's portrayal.

Emily's fashion-forward outfit included a trendily torn, scarlet and black striped top with 'NY' splashed across the front, perfectly fitted to her enviably lithe frame

When the movie adaptation premiered three years later, Anna leaned into the publicity, attending the New York City premiere wearing a Prada outfit. When asked in a CNN interview whether she regarded Lauren's novel as a "breach of trust," Anna awkwardly replied: "Well... I think that she brought attention to fashion in a way that, you know, you can look at it in a negative way or a positive way. I choose to look at it in a positive way. In some ways, I think I should be grateful to her."

It's clear that the real Anna Wintour has never forgotten the drama surrounding Lauren Weisberger's novel. But with The Devil Wears Prada 2 promising to bring even more glamour and intrigue, we can't wait to see what other secrets the fashion world holds.

Meanwhile, back on set, Emily Blunt was spotted taking a break from filming – but not before she stunned everyone in sight with her jaw-dropping transformation. With her new ash blonde hair and bold fashion choices, it's clear that Emily is ready to take on the role of Emily Charlton like never before.

The scene she was filming involved a restaurant meeting with Anne, who could be spotted sitting with her at an elegant table

As for what the future holds for The Devil Wears Prada 2, only time will tell – but one thing's for sure: with a talented cast, a gripping plot, and some seriously juicy gossip behind the scenes, this sequel promises to be one wild ride. Stay tuned!

Before this Thursday's sighting, Emily had been spotted on the set of the new movie with the same hair color and same style she had sported in the 2006 original

Evidently, however, her character will undergo a makeover during the course of the sequel, resulting in the new look she unveiled this week

When she was spotted emerging from her trailer at another point during the workday, the skirt-shorts combo was swapped out for crimson slacks

A stylish jacket that matched the slacks was slung over one of Emily's shoulders, and she augmented the outfit with a handbag and a camel-toned baseball cap

A number of boldface names from the first movie have returned for the sequel, including not only Meryl, Anne and Emily but also Stanley Tucci
