Elton John & David Walliams: Star Power Cancels Best Friend's Hen Party!
ELTON JOHN AND DAVID WALLIAMS CAUGHT UP IN CANNES CONTROVERSY: HEN PARTY'S RESERVATION AXED FOR 'SEMI-PRIVATE EVENT'!
The sunny shores of Cannes have been rocked by a scandal involving two A-listers, Elton John and David Walliams. The duo's visit to the exclusive La Guérite restaurant and beach club on the Île Ste-Marguerite has left a group of women feeling burned after their reservation was cancelled with just 24 hours' notice.
The reason? Elton and David's 'semi-private event', which saw them rubbing shoulders with Heartstopper stars Kit Connor, Joe Locke, and Tobie Donovan. The celebrity-studded gathering took place on the same day that a group of women had planned to celebrate their friend's hen party at the upscale venue.
According to an Instagram post shared by one of the affected women, the group had booked their table in May, oblivious to the fact that they would be bumped for the A-listers' shindig. "Hope you enjoyed La Guérite!" she wrote, taking a swipe at Elton and David. "Our reservation was cancelled for my best friend's hen do due to your 'semi-private event'. We booked our table in May didn't think it would be cancelled with 24 hours' notice."
Another woman chimed in, echoing the sentiment: "So bad isn't it! We flew here especially for this for our friend's hen." The comments were posted under a photo shared by David Walliams himself, which showed him sitting next to Elton at the restaurant. The image was accompanied by a video of David dancing to Whitney Houston's classic hit 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)', much to the amusement of his fellow diners.
The clip, which has been making waves on social media, shows David standing at the table and swaying animatedly to the music before moving to dance with his hands on the back of Elton's chair. The Crocodile Rock legend looked every inch the dashing gent in his summer shirt, singing along to the tune before collapsing into fits of giggles.
As the women's comments went viral, it remains unclear whether Elton and David were aware of the cancelled reservation. However, sources close to the restaurant have revealed that they often host exclusive events for high-profile clients, which may have taken priority over the hen party booking.
But this isn't the first time Elton has been spotted at La Guérite - he was previously seen enjoying a meal with his husband David Furnish in July. And if you thought that was the only hint of exclusivity surrounding Elton's villa on the French Riviera, think again! It's believed to be worth a whopping £15million and is affectionately known as the Yellow Palace.
When approached for comment by The Scholarly Note.com, representatives for both Elton John and David Walliams declined to address the controversy. Meanwhile, the restaurant has remained tight-lipped about the incident.
As one can't help but wonder what really went down on that fateful day in Cannes...
