Ellen DeGeneres Stands With Rosie O'Donnell: A Surprising Political Shift!

Ellen DeGeneres (L, pictured in 2006) showed public support for Rosie O'Donnell (R), whose US citizenship President Donald Trump threatened to revoke, just three months after Rosie accused Ellen of never saying 'anything political in her life'

"SHOCKING REUNION: Ellen DeGeneres Gives Rosie O'Donnell a Standing O After Trump Threatens to Revoke Her Citizenship!

In a dramatic turn of events, President Donald Trump shocked the nation by threatening to revoke comedian and actress Rosie O'Donnell's US citizenship on Saturday. But in a stunning display of solidarity, Ellen DeGeneres - who had previously been at odds with O'Donnell - showed her public support for the 63-year-old comedian.

The drama began when Trump took to Truth Social, his social media platform, and vowed to take away O'Donnell's citizenship because she is "a threat to humanity" and should remain in Ireland. But instead of cowering under the President's threats, O'Donnell fired back with a series of scathing posts on Instagram, calling Trump a "mentally ill, untreated criminal" who lacks empathy and basic humanity.

It all began Saturday when the 79-year-old Republican politician vowed on Truth Social: 'Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our great country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her citizenship. She is a threat to humanity, and should remain in the wonderful country of Ireland, if they want her. God bless America!'

And then, just hours later, Ellen DeGeneres - who had been criticized by O'Donnell in the past for not speaking out against Trump's policies - showed her support for O'Donnell by sharing Trump's post on her own social media account. She also gave a shout-out to O'Donnell with a simple "Good for you @rosie."

But this isn't the first time that Ellen and Rosie have clashed. In fact, O'Donnell has been vocal about Ellen's perceived lack of political activism in the past, telling Us Weekly that she was surprised to learn that Ellen had left the US due to Trump's re-election last November.

"I've never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump," O'Donnell said. "Like, that shocked me, actually."

On Sunday, the 67-year-old canceled comedian - who boasts 293.1M social media followers - shared Donald's post and gave a shout-out to the 63-year-old comedian: 'Good for you @rosie'

And while Ellen has kept a relatively low profile on social media, O'Donnell has been using her platform to speak out against Trump and his policies. In fact, the comedian has been vocal about her decision to leave the US and move to Ireland due to Trump's presidency.

"It's not like we're tenaciously opposed to each other," O'Donnell said in a recent interview with THR. "We're just very different people. We have had some stuff in the past that we never resolved. And not in any way as, as partners or lovers or anything like that, just as friends and comedians, but I wish her the best. I seriously do."

Despite Trump's threats to revoke O'Donnell's citizenship, legal experts say that it is highly unlikely that he would be able to do so due to the 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States.

But for now, Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres are putting aside their differences to stand up against Trump's attacks. And with Ellen's public support, O'Donnell is more determined than ever to continue speaking out against the President and his policies.

"I'm not yours to silence," O'Donnell wrote on Instagram. "I never was."

Ellen notoriously got 'kicked out of show business for being mean' after her former self-titled daytime talk show ended following 19 seasons after being hit with racism, workplace bullying, and sexual harassment claims in 2022

Rosie and her 12-year-old non-binary child Dakota 'Clay' O'Donnell (R, pictured last Tuesday) are getting acclimated to Dublin and she's 'in the process' of getting Irish citizenship

In response to Donald's latest diss, O'Donnell shared no less than four posts on Saturday condemning the close friend of the late Jeffrey Epstein with her captive, combined 3.4M Instagram/TikTok following

The 12-time Emmy winner blasted: 'Hey Donald, you're rattled again? 18 years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours. You are everything that is wrong with America, and I'm everything you hate about what's still right with it. You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try'

Rosie also called Trump a 'mentally ill, untreated criminal' and 'a sexual-abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself' writing: 'This is why I moved to Ireland'

Legally, The Apprentice alum (pictured Sunday) doesn't have the power to revoke O'Donnell's citizenship due to the 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the States

The And Just Like That guest star is next scheduled to perform a sold-out, one-hour comedy show at International Bar in Dublin this Wednesday at 6pm

Rosie is rehearsing for her one-woman show Common Knowledge, which runs August 1-10 at Scotland's Appleton Tower during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
